12/14/13 Huge Day

You do realize they bring most of their team back from last year? The key will be the first 7 or 8 minutes of the game. The Vols get off to a slow start, then its going to be very difficult coming back against a very good team on the road.

And you realize we beat them?

Game is being played at Intrust Bank Arena. I had heard at the beginning of the year that it wasn't going to be at their home court.

They are a good team. Not a great team. Their #11 ranking is based off of their run in the tourney last year. Every year there is one mediocre team that gets hot in March and is a bracket buster. WSU was that team last year. Remember this is the same team that was a play in team and lost to Evansville twice last year. TN should handle them easily if they just show up. If the same team shows up that beat Xavier and WF, then TN wins by 20. They are not the 11th best team in the country but I'll take the victory and resume builder.

What is defined as "most"? They lost 3 of their top 4 scorers, including their PG and Carl Hall, a good 6'8" forward. They return Early, and Baker is actually leading the team in points this year. So, no, it is not the same team.

Of course I do. I also realize how well they played during their run to the final 4. They are undefeated(have not seen a score tonight), and are playing close to home.

They have improved since last December. This will be the toughest game of the year. A win there means an automatic tourney bid.

Once again proving my theory that most people dont watch games just go off rankings and the want to sh&t on Tennessee and more importantly CCM.

Wrong. Most of their team is back. Do some research before you spout off

They have played absolutely nobody this year. Being undefeated with their schedule should be expected.

The WS game won't even make the top 5 toughest games of the year.

At KY
At FL
At LSU
At MIZZ
FL and home

Really? Toughest game?

So losing most of their starting 5 isn't significant? Tell me how many of the players they have back played a huge role in last years team?

IMO, yes. I think UT has a good shot at everyone of those games you listed except UK. The ref's play to big of a factor to ever pick against them at home.

Haha. Semantics. A team can return "most" of their team and I guess lose 3 of their top 4 scorers. So, that is not the same team. Carl Hall was second team all conference, and Armstead was third team. I am not saying they are bad, and it is a tough game. But it is not the same team.

I agree 100% that Wichita State is overrated, but one correction, they weren't a play in team last year.

As you said their ranking was a benefit of their tourney run, and they haven't played anyone yet this year, so while others lost they've climbed as the result of an easy schedule.

This is a big game for both teams, for Wichita State it's their biggest test of the season, for Tennessee much of the same. We won last year without Jeronne Maymon, and they return a lesser team than they fielded last year IMO. Carl Hall was a killer against us and he is no longer there, Richardson really shut down Early.

Cleanthony Early- their best player. Ron Baker leads the team in scoring this year, and I think he is a sophomore. He was 5th on team last year.

You're correct. For some reason I got them and MTSU mixed up. Have no idea why.

I think WSU is a good team. I don't know if I expect a win, but I wouldn't be surprised if we can win, especially if we did turn a corner with our away from home woes at the B4A.

So three people out of the "majority" of the team they bring back. Gotcha

Flame on fellas

I still think we have the better team. Their best player is Ron Baker. Would you take him or Mcrae?

Early is gone and he was the main reason they gave us problems last year. We have a clear advantage down low, and dare I say we have a better guard play too.

Stop looking strictly at the fact that they are ranked #11.

Hall* not Early.

Early is not gone. Carl Hall is gone, and Armstead is gone. I would guess we have the better guard play, too. Not sure they have an answer for McRae or Stokes. But it won't be easy.

Amen. I'm right there with you. I said we should handle them and caught some flack but I don't see what is so impressive about this team.
