'12 AL S Trae Elston

so...does he end up playing for TN?

That's what we've been hearing. He'll commit att the Al-Miss all star game.

OAN: He's a lot like our current commit Crawley athletically. I really want to see what kind of player he is after he puts on weight. He will need a redshirt season to put some weight on that small frame. He's built body wise like Dre Kirtpatrick except he's not as tall. His ball skills are much better than Dre though.

Dre is so overrated it's crazy. Saban usually always gives him safety help. When he doesn't he gets bombed on. He doesn't have any recovery speed at all on the deep ball. He's tackling better this year but a lot of his hits are him getting big headstart and hitting a WR coming across his zone. Menzie and Millner have out played him all year for Bama. Dre just gets up after every play and beats his chest like he's Deion. He's alright as a player but he'll be like Mike Rumph in the pros(BUST). (as you can tell I really don't like Dre as a player lol)

well i was meaning his hitting more than the "ball skills". shoulda been clear. i take this as elston hits like dre but has much better cover ability

Dre's hitting but he still doesn't tackle well if you run right at him. Millner and Menzie are much better in the run game than Dre. Remember Dmo getting destroyed last year when Millner came off a block and smacked him. Knocked him out for the game. Now since you like Dre(and I'm not bashing you) name a game or play where he's coming off a block and making a solid tackle.

Dre is average at best. He gets away with more hand checking then any other corner in the NCAA.

Coach Thompson is suppose to be visiting w/ Elston this week.

I'm a little amazed that people have forgotten how effective this guy is at his job. I'm glad to see Thompson's going there. Would love to get this kid's commitment.

I agree with you. Elston is a better prospect than Bivens, but we seem to be putting more energy into Bivens than Elston. Hopefully I am wrong about that.

I agree. And not just because he's rated a 4* and Bivins is a 3*. Elston's offer list is way more impressive, basically offered by every SEC school. Bivins has not (Arky, UT, and KY). And Elston has ELITE speed, something that we really need in the secondary.

Elston is a better player by far IMO. He has much better speed and leaping ability than Bivins. Don't know if his speed is elite but it's very good. And he has wonderful stamina. When I watched him play he barely came off the field.

I haven't seen any updates on him, UGA worries me here. I think that's the only team Tennessee is truly competing w/ for Elston.

"Talked to Trae earlier this week. He was visited by Lance Thompson. He said he's likely to visit somewhere next weekend after the Alabama - Miss all-star game, possibly Tennessee.

He said Tennessee and Arkansas have been coming after him the most and he's been talking to Georgia as well. He said he didn't have any visits officially planned as of earlier this week." - Fortenberry, VQ

Wait, wasn't he supposed to announce during the AL-MS game, or am I thinking of someone else?

"(Recruiting's) been going slow. I really haven't been talking to them (coaches) but I'm starting to talk to them with the football season being over now.So, I'm just starting to focus on where my career's going to," Elston said.

The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back said he's mostly hearing from Tennessee and Arkansas and has tried to get in contact with Georgia a few times. When he talks to Tennessee, he usually speaks with Lance Thompson who came to visit him late this past week.

"He just says that they're very interested in me. I went up to their game about a month ago and they were very interested in me and they need corners and defensive backs" Elston said.

"Not for real. Just been taking it slow, I really don't have any leaders," Elston added.

Doesn't sound like he is going to commit anywhere anytime soon.
