Thanks. I actually just found that list. I haven't heard of really any of the guys that attended that camp/combine. I'm sure a few of them are D-1 prospects though.

It looks like Henderson was the LB MVP at the Combine, not the overall MVP. Some kid named John Silas won that.

We are recruiting Silas as a LB to I believe.

Christian Harris didn't have a great offer list when we took his commitment last year, and everyone is pumped about him now. I trust the staff on this one.

How long before the nega-Vols start downplaying the commitment? Dooley and Co. are missing on all the recruits! We aren't going to get the players we need! The sky is falling!

Welcome to the Vol Family, Khalid. VERY glad to chalk one up for our LB corps!

Instincts are top notch, I'll give hime that. Lots of arm tackling and helmet hugging in his tape, though. He looks big and athletic against that competition, but he will have about average at best size and athleticism at the next level. From what was shown, he's a horrible form tackler...great instincts. Thats what I saw. This is the kind of kid Sirmon REALLY earns his paycheck on...got to coach him up.

Good objective analysis. I do like his instincts, the tackling needs improvement, no doubt but it doesn't bother me as much as the athleticism as that can be worked on.

He looks a lot like what they already have on campus, at least to me. Smart, heady guy but looks to me like an average athlete for an SEC linebacker. Tennessee just needs to get better athletes period. And LB is the most glaring need for that. Hopefully they can coach him up and have some success.

I just hope this isn't a sign they aren't feeling too good about some of the big-time LB's they have on the board and seemed to be at least in decent shape with.

You can downplay the offer list all you want, but what it is what it is.

I know he had a solid camp but it's also well known that there wasn't a whole lot of talent that showed up this year either at camp.

Hopefully he's another big-time diamond in the rough for Tennessee, but the lack of interest from the rest of the conference and South has to make you wonder if they are continuing to bring in the same level of talent at LB that is currently on campus.

Did you watch the film?

often just signs of weak coaching as a kid and in HS. Very few coaches at those levels demand greatness of their stars. It's a shame. Coaches used to hammer their studs just like everyone else. Now they have to pander because a kid will take his wares elsewhere.

Ain't that the truth...

You give a Superstar an earful and addresses begin magically popping up across the region.

Did you? He's an average athlete with great football instincts...very poor tackler and lacks great technique. I just watched the film a 2nd time and I don't think he scrapes down very well. He knows where he needs to be, but can't quite get himself there quick enough. Those +3 tackles he's making should be blown up for no gain or -1.

+1 Absolutely. Everyone said the same exact thing about Christian last spring and now people are drooling over him saying he has a real chance of starting sometime this fall. This wasn't a desperation move like the Crump, Propst, or Jackson situations because we are at the top of many big time LBs list. Dooley wants big, physical, and fast LBs and Henderson fits that mold perfectly. Excellent pickup IMO

Maybe GT09 can give us some insight. In that March video he said he was getting a lot of interest from GT, UT, UNC, and Alabama.

Very well stated! It really is a shame.

If our staff is taking LBs out of desperation in JUNE then they will have their mouths around a tailpipe by August. Good grief people.

I'm not sure if some people even remember what kind of players were on the roster, when Tennessee was winning big. All this talk about Boise State, UConn, etc. makes me believe they don't. SEC caliber athletes, and lots of them, are needed in the front 7 if you want to win in this league.

Christian Harris hasn't played a down yet.....I'll be pumped up when he actually makes plays on the field.

I agree. Athletically he is just not what you typically see on the high school level out of an upper echelon SEC linebacker prospect. He's got the instincts and vision. He does not have near the quickness and explosion. I can see why Tennessee was his only SEC offer up to this point.

Can't teach instincts and form tackling is probably the easiest thing to teach. Getting a player to use what he is taught comes down to discipline. Dooley himself said that its discipline or intelligence when a player doesn't play like their coached.

Agreed but coaches know what fits their system. No one is questioning Saban for having two DEs that are very low 3 stars with no big offers and no D-lineman overall above a 3 star.

I watched this video and I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "average athleticism" and "poor tackling"

Tennessee Vols Football, Vols Basketball, and Lady Vols

He's blowing up every play in this video....excellent cover skills for a LB...can rush the QB....head up, shoulders square, tackling through the offensive player on every tackle...

I just don't see what you're seeing at all

Clearly they dont remember those days. Our problem might be that we do remember the type of athletes and talent Tennessee used to have.

Maybe it is simply unrealistic for me to believe and/or hope they can ever get back to that level of player across the board.

I put more emphasis on video that I watch than pretty much any other evaluation technique. To me it's

1) Coaches opinion
2) My personal opinion of the tape
3) offer list
4) Recruiting services evaluations
5) Recruiting services rankings
