using the 'girl friend' analogy many recruits use:

I wasn't big on the IC committment at first, but now that's there's news he could looking else where has me thinking I don't want to lose him (no homo)

How many commits did we worry about losing last year? How many commits did we actually lose? I like our odds.

Either way we'll be fine. There's plenty of good backs out there.

Talked with Vol commitment Imani Cross who admitted that he was a little unsure of his initial decision when a few schools SEC and ACC schools contacted him. He is now settled down after talking with Terry Joseph and looking back at why he chose Tennessee

Cannot believe folks are doing this again this early. I never get freaked out about losing commitments. It's a waste of time. Trust the staff, and if they leave, that's just a spot for another possibly more talented guy.

Well said.

"i liked their head coaches and those certain things. I was always totally solid to tennessee, but i wanted to see what other people had to say. I'm still a volunteer and i think tennessee is building the greatest school in the sec."

"just knowing that no matter what school i go to is going to be the same battle both academically and on the field," cross said. "it's all about going to the university that fits my personality and tennessee does that. I think it's because it's a place where they are not only trying to get good players, but good people.

"tennessee is full of good people and coach dooley represents that. I feel that everything is going great at tennessee."

"he calmed me down a lot," cross said. "we had one good conversation about what recruiters are going to say to you. They are going to tell you what you want to hear. Coach joseph told me that all that stuff doesn't matter. He said that it matters where i'm going to be happy and i believe that place is tennessee."

Sounds like all is still solid???

From Scout:

How committed is the Vols lone pledge, Gainesville Georgia running back Imani Cross?

“Very committed,” Cross told InsideTennessee.com Sunday evening. “Several schools have started showing a lot of interest, but I’m very solid on my pledge to Tennessee.”

Recruiting rumors the last couple of weeks had Cross considering ACC schools and perhaps the Clemson Tigers.

“I can honestly say I have no interest at in Clemson,” Cross said. “The attention has been nice, but I keep in touch with the Tennessee coaching staff on a regular basis. I just got off the phone with them this evening.”

Cross is looking forward to his spring football season to get underway today in Gainesville.

“I have been excited about spring ball for a while now,” Cross said. “It will be great to get back out there and get spring ball started.”

Cross is also expecting a few visitors this week.

“Coaches from Tennessee and Virginia is suppose to be coming this week to practice,” Cross noted. “It will be great to see how many college coaches show up.”

With several questions concerning Cross’ commitment to Tennessee we decided to ask the tough question.

When asked if there is any school that could sway Cross from Tennessee, the talented running back took the question head on.

“I’m very committed to Tennessee,” Cross said. “There is no school out there right now that will make me change my mind about the Vols.”

Cross is impressed with the direction of the Tennessee football program under Derek Dooley.

“Coach Dooley is doing a great job with his vision for the program,” Cross said. “He

Cross has been ranked as a top 50 player in the state of Ga.

Imani Cross is an extremely powerful running back with great size who gives 100 % on every play. Could grow into a LB in college.

That's a pretty big RB. If he's really 6'2 225 right now I doubt he stays at RB. He isn't even a SR in HS yet and is that big.

I say he stays at RB. This is a kid that could give LBs snot bubbles late in games. A Brute that you want to give the ball too late in close games.

He might not be dazzling but he can run into the teeth of LSU, BAMA Defenses and give as good of a Boom and he gets.

:good!: Nice post...agree 100%. It seems as though the freak outs come a little earlier each year. It does nobody any good to worry over visits and the like, we will get who we get and it will be a quality class. If they move on, so be it...HS juniors and seniors change their mind around 562 times a day. Why would a recruit's decision making be any different?

I hope he stays at RB as well. I for one am tired of us having 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 and not getting it. I am all for having a back that even if an OL misses a block...the back can truck someone and get that 1st down. Same thing on the 1 yard line going in, anyone feel good with string bean Bray keeping it on a QB sneak? Jabari Davis was a back I felt confident in.

I feel fine with a 6' 5" QB extending his arm to get that 1 yard

A combo of size, strength and speed that Tennessee has lacked in a RB far too long...Cross is a punishing 'back who does not fumble and can take it the distance once through the l-o-s.
All VOL.
All RB.
