'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

ESPN's player evals are often better than Rivals. They really do their homework and have some of the best guys in the business doing the evaluating whereas with some of the other services it's joe blow reporter saying "his arm looks good."

For instance, ESPN on Cross:

Cross does not possess a lot of wow factor on film but is a big and strong running back prospect with well-rounded tools ready to tote the rock at the next level. Tall, with a thick build. Has a wide base and great body composition. Has solid straight-line speed for a bigger back and shows flashes of solid burst but lacks an explosive extra gear to win a lot of foot races at the next level. Vision is adequate, sees the cutback. Shows he can be patience letting his blocks develop. Not a real fluid cutter but makes subtle cuts without gearing down much and does not typically give defenders a clean shot for a bigger back. Flashes adequate outside speed and quickness stretching the football but is at his best when he squares up his shoulders and gets north. Shows good burst and balance out of his cuts and is load to take down when his compact base gains downhill momentum. Breaks consistent first contact. Difficulty to arm tackle high when he has a full head of steam through the second level. Displays a strong and sturdy upper-body and his thicker thighs drive and pull through most leg tackles. Retains balance, shows good second efforts. When he runs behind his pads and keeps his legs driving on contact he can really earn productive yards after contact but at times you would expect to see more power. Can catch the ball out of the backfield and is strong blocker which is difficult to find in true running back prospects at the high school level. Overall Cross has all the makings of three down back and would thrive in an offense that is more downhill and heavy run. May not possess the speed or flash to gain a lot of national attention but he has the physical ability to play early and have a very productive college career.

I am sure Cross can be replaced, but I really hope we don't lose him. He jumped on board early on and I appreciate that. Once he wears the Big Orange, I will be really pulling for him to do well. I know those in the know say he is HIGH on our board, so that also says alot considering some of the talent in our own backyard this year.

I know, I was talking about Rivals. That's usually what I go by. :hi:

Rivals is one of the worst when it comes to evals, not to mention being Bama biast. The founder or owner cant remember which is a Bammer and is always more influenced towards them. VQ has the best info around but Rivals as a whole doesnt have the best evaluators because they are so shorthanded and lost many guys to other sites. they just dont have enough to evaluate everyone equally and fairly.

I Hope that we can hold on to him. To me he will be a Jabari Davis type back for us. Doubt he ever starts but could be a bruiser and used alot on the goal line. Very similar to the way we used Jabari, who did step in when we had injuries, but overall wasnt a starter type guy.

If the coaches love him as much as they seem to, I'm sure they disagree.

CDD isn't going to waste a scholly on a RB that he has been recruiting for a year just to sit on the beach. If he doesn't think he can start he wouldn't have offered. Cross is going to be awesome for us.

Somebody has to sit on the bench.

Somebody has to sit on the bench.

But that doesn't mean they recruit people to sit on the bench. That's crazy.

Cross has an NFL body in high school. If he's totally healed up from his injury, it will be interesting to see if he silences his critics. If so, CDD will really prove his worth as a talent evaluator, IMO.

This guy is doodie.

He's slow. Definitely not 4.5. Looks like he's running in mud. Only reason he's outrunning people is because they are short white guys.

“My commitment level is still the same,” said Cross via phone interview. “I am solid on Tennessee, but I am still looking around at other schools.”

“You know I don’t want to sit here, spit out names and make Tennessee feel like I am looking at everybody else, but I am just looking at some other places.”

“I just like the direction they are going with Coach Dooley and the fact that they are trying to recruit the right people to build the program,” said Cross

Cross also added that he weighs 230lbs

Im gonna cross my fingers hoping he remains solid to the big orange. This young man has all the tools to be very successful and I hope we are the lucky ones at the end of the day.

Don't really care if we get him honestly. He won't see the field very much if he comes here.

Imani, if you are reading this, do not pay any attention to the guy i quoted above, he is just one guy and he does NOT reflect the feelings of most volunteer fans.
