'12 GA RB Imani Cross (Nebraska Commit)

I imagine Cross being the kind of guy we use (in his early years) in the 2nd half when the defense is tired. he's a big boy and I sure as hell wouldn't want to tackle him.

ive watched cross now for 4 years in HS and not impressed at all. doesn't hit the whole quick and lacks overall quickness and top end speed. if he makes it as a RB i'll be the first to admit i was wrong, maybe on defense yes but i just don't see it on offense.

Depending on what hurts his speed... some guys can shave time off their forty. S&C does it for some. Diet does it for some. Stretching does it for many. Form and technique help some guys.

Sometimes I don't understand how Rivals evaluates some players...

Take Cross for example...he is clearly a power back...while speed is always important it's not the end-all, be-all for a back like him...what I'm saying is you don't evaluate him the same way you evaluate a Norfleet or an Andrew Buie type...

I feel like the same thing is going on with Santos right now...Perroni is keeping him at a 3 star for reasons I believe are more applicable to an OLB than a MLB

IMO JMO VFL GBO

Good point thunder. The negatives for his game, while comparing to other backs, better backs, is that he lacks speed and elusiveness. But that isn't his game. He is built to carry the ball 25 times a game and move the chains. What he lacks in elusiveness he makes up for ability to breaks tackles, trucking defenders, and vision. I bet he is better at breaking tackles than the elite speed backs.

Exactly...you wouldn't knock a speed back for not being able to break tackles...why knock a power back for a lack of homerun speed?

Besides...I saw him outrun plenty of people in his new film...and he's not playing against scrubs where he's at

They are nerds holding a stop watch. They know 40 times, bench max and how much a player weighs.

Do you guys think Marcus Lattimore is fast? rhetorical...

he's a 4.55+ forty guy all day, yet he breaks enough tackles to rip off long runs almost every game.

Hell, Arian Foster Definitely is not fast. But he has a long run from scrimmage every single game in the NFL

That's whose running style I would compare him to.

I'd take that, but he's quite a bit bigger than Foster.

Saw a Foster long TD run from last week and he outran NFL DBs to the endzone. Where did that extra gear come from? He's running now similar to his Freshman year which was his best year at UT.

Moved up to #22 running back on Rivals. I thought about poking fun at people who would think he was the best running back ever if he was just two slots higher, but I think I just don't care any more.

Cross=beast. Great pickup by the Vols.
