He lose 4 on offense(TE, 2 OL, RB) We had a very young team this year. Our offense and special teams were horrible, they put our defense in bad situations. We "should be" better on both sides of the ball next year.

This sounds like most UT fans before this season started. Losing 2 OL and a TE hurts more than you think. On top of this your SEC schedule is going to be brutal.

Irrelevant because you have to play Bama, LSU, Arky, Auburn, and aTm.. all of which will beat you. Additionally you may have to play us which likely wont work-out in your favor either so right there is 5-6 guaranteed loses.

Mo Jacobs Smith Sentimore and/or McCullers is a pretty good DL rotation. He will play in a respectable line-up if he comes here.

That's not better than Cox, Boyd, and Eulls. Cox has won SEC D-Lineman of the Week 5 times, he's better than two of those guys you just mentioned put together, let's be honest.

Arky loses a lot of players this year. aTm will not be used to the SEC grind, so they will fold early. Last few games have gone to the wire between us and Auburn. Bama is Bama so they'll beat us and rumors are we might not even play LSU next year so we are in better shape, not "irrelevant".

The major set back will be when Mullen leaves for an easier job. The SEC has shown to be tough on new coaches i.e. Mullen, Dooley, Muschamp, Franklin. Its hard to get top talent to go to starkville.

Trying hard to not be biased but MSU is no better than we are right now... It doesn't appear to be a better option either... Also, how are you not going to play LSU.. Last time I checked NCAA rules require you to play everyone in your division...

I agree, it's hard to get top talent in Starkville in football, but it's getting better. We have guys that would have never step foot on MSUs campus 5 years ago coming for visits and actually considering us.

Just a rumor that's swirling, but the SEC may not start the 9 game SEC schedule until 2013 because of contracts with other schools. IF that happens, the rumor is that we will still play the 8 game(5 same division, 3 other division) schedule. SEC would get a waiver from the NCAA to do this until 2013. That means you will not play one team in your division and the rumor is LSU for us. Just speculation though.

That's the problem.. You aren't out recruiting the big names in your division our ours.. Mullen is a good coach, but the talent gap is still growing, and won't get any easier for him.

Isn't there a UGA board you can goto with this? Why would you come to the Vols board to brag about a team very few of us if not all give 2 ****s about. My guess is another chest thumper for a team who before the season wanted their HC banished. Way to accomplish nothing and ride on the coattails of those who did.

St. was expected to finish 9-3 this year from every analyst in the nation, but I knew there was zero chance of that happening. State better hope Mullen doesn’t smarten up and head elsewhere. If rebuilding a program is hard for Tennessee in the East, imagine a State program who’s never really been good trying to do it in the West. Mission Impossible.

Rebuilding shouldn't be hard at UT. The East isn't nearly as competitive as the West. Pony up the money and hire a proven big name coach i.e. Urban Meyer(Ohio State's new hire). You are UT and there is no reason for you to hire a coach with a losing record in the WAC conference. UNACCEPTABLE! Sad situation in Knoxville. Back to Autry, he is an important piece and would make an instant impact to both MSU or UT.

Problem is no big time coach wanted anything to do with us. We need to stick with Dooley for another year and see what happens. If he starts out bad next season, then Hart can start the search process.

Without Strong and Tebow he wasn't winning crap at UF. How did DE work out at Arizona St, or Rick the prick at UCLA? Here's another one Butch Davis at UNC. There are not that many Sabans out there. Give DD a real chance, and he will win. Fire him, and we will wallow around in mediocrity for the rest of this decade too.

Pretty sure that he went undefeated as the coach for Utah, and that was without Tebow or Strong. But I get your point.
