With a healthy Hunter, he is #3.

Let's not forget Da'Rick is All-SEC and Hunter, if healthy, is the best WR in the country.

in the country? Hmmm

He's coming off a severe injury that may be 100% physically but is harder to recover from mentally. Love what DR brings too but there are still a few question marks around him.

I bet Chaney and Bray are grinning from ear to ear right about now. Can you imagine a 4 wide set consisting of JH, DR, CP and JC (Jason Croom), and then have Clear running a route too? That is 5 guys (with an average height of 6'4") coming at a defense (with an average height of about 5'11).

Even if Bray throws to his check down (RB), that's a LOT of big bodies blocking upfield. I think Chaney's mind may explode in the off season designing plays to utilize the size of our WR's.

Good point. Really makes me wish Milton worked out. Oh well.

our top two Wideouts require double teams, that's a fact. Patterson COULD require one, and even if not, he seems like he could be the best run after catch of the three. And honestly, rivera or cam clear isn't the easiest matchup in the world for a linebacker.

Not sure who starts at tailback. But all that was without mentioning devrin and rajion

And guys, as of right now, rajion Neal is our third best receiver. Not knocking CP, but if he takes a second to adjust like couch/Moore did, rajion is the slot receiver. Then again, rogers and hunter demanding attention will make the adjustment simple.

not sure I understand. You don't think he's in the discussion?

That is a really high expectation, don't you think?

To me, Hunter and Rogers are the two best WR in the SEC, to think this kid while come in and surpass either of them is kinda hard to imagine.

Hunter will be número uno. I think Da'rick AND CP will be number 2. I think you put Da'rick in the slot more than CP. Not because Da'rick is less talented than CP. We all know that's probably not the case. But their strengths are different. Da'rick is more of the over the middle guy, while CP is more of a deep threat. But I do think you keep the D off balanced while switching them up.

+1

Kenny O'Neal was a big talent and had played D1 ball at a major program. Came to Tennessee/the SEC and was a nothing. I personally would've like to see him get more in-game chances but he must not have gotten the coaches confidence. Patterson yes he's a good athlete and all but he hasn't proven anything close to what Hunter and Rogers have. Rogers over 1000 yards with Bray out half of the season and Matt Simms at QB. Hunter as a another posted stated when healthy is one of if not the best WR in the country. He's a nightmare. Robert Woods is very good(sickwitit) but Hunter's leaping ability and size to go along with top notch speed make the difference. Patterson has to prove he can play in this league let alone being on a Rogers/Hunter level. I don't think we would even be having this discussion if Bray and Hunter had stayed healthy. I also think Hunter is a better athlete than Patterson.

One thing about D.Rogers you can't jam him on the line of scrimmage. He's as physical as he wants to be. Everyone saying CP is better after the catch than Rogers or Hunter must not have watched our games. Hunter and Rogers were making moves and cuts that a 6'3-6'4 guy shouldn't make like that. Rogers is also a lot faster than some on here give him credit for. He has no problem getting deep. Then factor in he's a 6'3 218-220 pound guy running and moving like that. Something serious...........good we can have Patterson as an option but I don't think he'll just come in and challenge for either of those guys spots.

No doubt but D's won't be able to stack the box with those 3 WR's out there and I think Jay Graham and our RB's are going to figure out how to make it happen. JMO

I think CJG may be the biggest addition of the year. Having someone of his experience and his ability to relate to the players dedicated to the RBs will be huge.

BRAJP? How is Patterson doing in terms of qualifying?

Darin Hinshaw has had him on the path to qualify since he started recruiting him last spring.

- Hubbs. I feel better now, but I didn't know that Hinshaw was a tutor.... :eek:lol:

I guess part of it is because rogers attitude was rumored to be suspect at times, but a lot of this board way overlooks how much of an absolute freak he is. I also think all three of these guys are capable of the circus catch... reminds me of Dooley after the cincy game saying 'yeah, we'll pretty much do that and see if you can stop it'

This board cracks me up. We had guys like Josh Briscoe(little Sandusky), Austin Rogers, Lucas Taylor, and Gerald Jones at WR. Those four were some of the worst athletes we've ever put on the field at WR U. They also forget he's a true sophomore. 19 year old kid who is emotional. I guess all of us were settled all the way in at 19. I get a kick out of some of these guys on here. Patterson looks pretty good on tape though and should be fun to have a player of his caliber as our third option. Bray, Worley, or Peterman(if we get down to him) should be okay with the group of WRs we have.

People just quickly forget, or ignore, the fact that DaRick is one of the most physically gifted Wideouts in the nation. In every single aspect of his game.

Sorry to get off topic...

But you have the best avy on VolNation imo.

Some may think Da'Rick's attitude is suspect at times, but that isn't going to lose him a starting WR spot. One of the best combinations of speed and strength to play WR for the University of Tennessee in a long, long time. There isn't one recruit in this year's recruiting class that could have taken Da'Rick's spot or Hunter's spot. And that includes DGB. Not going to happen.

Da'Rick and Hunter are the best two WRs in the SEC by far. And both are Top-5 national WRs as well. I wouldn't trade them. That is for sure. Sammy Watkins and the Southern Cal duo are up there too. But I'm happy with what UT has out there on the field. Enjoy it this year because there is a good chance this is the most talented pair of WRs UT will field in a very long time.

I agree. However, if we could get Patterson to stay the two years instead of being one and done, I think that Patterson (sr.), Croom (so.), and Pig (so.) have every bit of potential to have the same type of impact as a Rogers/Hunter.

This does not even factor in Bowles. By all accounts, he is the real deal, but his film just does not show it to me. His HS competition and the team he played for creates worries for me.

Does anyone have a link to Patterson's most recent highlight videos? I hate to put anyone through the trouble of linking, but I can't seem to find any and don't have access to premium sites. Thanks!

Patterson won't be a one and done player. I don't see it happening.

I agree, no doubt he has talent, but lets see how he looks when he gets here. Also, he better learn the playbook. Hopefully he will have a really god year for us, but how many JUCOs are one and done? Not saying it is impossible, I just do not see it happening.
