pretty sure D.J. was the biggest miss of the class not only did we lose a 5 star offensive lineman we lost him to florida!!!!!! VFL

DJ was the biggest miss b/c he was one of the only misses. Santos or O'Brien would have been monumental misses - instead, they're homeruns!

This thread reminds me alot of the Obrien thread he signs with us the coaches and insiders all know it we just need to learn to listen

"For a while now, Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn have been recruiting me harder than anyone else. Other schools are recruiting me, like Arkansas, Ole Miss, and some others, but those three have been recruiting me very hard for a while,"

"I would not say I am down to just those three schools and I do not have a leader yet, but they do stand out. They have stayed in contact with me and my coaches and they have come after me hard. I am not ready to say they are my top three, but I like them a lot."

"I liked my official visit to Auburn a lot. I got along with the coaches well and I felt like they have a positive environment there. They know how to make it feel like a big family.

"I have been to Tennessee twice on unofficial visits and I will go back the weekend of November 18 for my official. They really keep in touch with me a lot and I like that. When I was there, I really got along with the players and the coaches well too.

"At Georgia, I had a nice unofficial visit there and they have a nice campus. They don't have A.J. Green now and they have talked to me about that. I like the coaches there too, they seem like good guys. I will be visiting them officially the week in December."

"My dream is the play in the NFL, so I need to have a chance to get the ball. I don't have four years, only two, so I have to make a smart decision."

Hmmmm...that last part is troubling, unless DR and JH go pro after next year he would be the #3 receiver for his 2 years here. Kind hard to get to the NFL as a third receiver but that would be insane if we had 3 NFL receivers on the field at the same time.

Vol lock, IMO. In Knoxville he gets an elite talent in Bray throwing the ball all over the field. And with Rogers and Hunter out there he won't be getting double teamed like he would at other schools w/o an elite receiver or two. JMO

So if we get him do we go to 3 WR sets all game? Kinda hard for them to cover all 3 constantly.

If he wants to go to the NFL then he needs to go ahead & commit to Tennessee.

The only thing that goes against UT, IMO, is he won't be "the guy," at UT. He may not end up better than Hunter or even Rogers.

He very well could be our #1 his SR year. Odds are J Hunter and Da'Rick only have 1 more year in Knoxville. That being said, he would spend 2012 as the #3 and then 2013 as "the guy". And if getting to the NFL is this guys main priority, then IMO UT and UGA offer equal opportunities with UT being a slight favored due to Mitchell being a true freshman at UGA. Mitchell will be UGA's #1 for the next 2 or 3 years.

I really don't think Rogers and Hunter bolt for the NFL early. I think that's mostly pride from our fan base.

Definitely agree. Underclassmen leaving early for the NFL is abnormal. Last years draft class was an anomaly with quite a few.

As a Vol fan, its only good news if they do leave early. We saw a glipse this year, granted it was only for 2 games, that if we are going to be successful in 2012 its going to be through the backs of big numbers from Bray, Hunter, Da'Rick. Its asking a lot for both of them to put up numbers on a week to week bases like they did the first two games of the season however, we've seen how our offense has played since we've lost those weapons.

IMO for 2012 to be the year we all think it should be, both head to the league post their 3rd year in college (along with Bray). If either of the two was in question from being able to leave early it was Da'Rick and he has proven since Hunter went down that he is more than capable as the #1 WR in the SEC.

Its only good news if they are gone post 2012 and I have my fingers cross they will be.

Rogers isn't a true No.1 yet. He's a good WR but he's not a true No.1 yet. He's our best WR with Hunter hurt but he plays when he wants to at times. He also couldn't get loose from Claiborne Saturday. IMO you have to at least show you can win some battles against one of if not the best CB in the country. Yeah he beat Matheiu but he had a visible size advantage. He did nothing against #17. And I'm a Tennessee homer who realizes Simms is the QB. But Rogers also drops too many passes for a true No.1. I felt Hunter was a real No.1 WR. He caught everything and stayed open early for us. Plus I think the ball Simms threw to Rogers (that got picked and ran almost back for a TD) would've been a bit more competitive with Hunter in the same position.

Why would you think it's good news if they left early? What we need is 4 year players to help out with our depth and leadership.

Well we have a lot of WRs coming in already and Dallas plus Arnett already in. We probably would be okay. But I don't want them gone and I don't know why our fanbase think they'll just up and leave. Don't see Bray just up and leaving. I think if they see we are close to a championship caliber team then they'll all want to stay after these two crazy years they've had to go through.

Its common sense and basic knowledge of college football. The teams with NFL talent on the field are the best teams...if UT has players leaving early that means we have NFL talent and makes us a better team/program It also means we are a pro factory which for 99% of recruits is priority #1 out of HS. Its nearly every year that we have a DB recruit say, "i wanna be the next Eric Berry at UT!" They want to be EB because he was an NFL talent that got to the league.

Dont get me wrong, I'm 100% in favor of every player staying for 4 years, receiving their degree, yada-yada. But thats not college football these days. The top programs have a consist attrition of underclassmen jumping to the NFL year in and year out. Those programs also have the ability to restock every year which goes back to my OP that Patterson would the chance to "be the man" in 2013assuming Hunter/Da'Rick have the success we all hope they do in 2012.

We have enough depth at WR, however its the talent level that i would question. Going back to the importance of making sure we land a stud in this years class out of Croom, Patterson, Bowles, etc.
