Good points. Personally I have come to believe that both OCI and Skeeter have connections within or close to the coaching staff and therefore are sources of reliable information. Anyone familiar with recruiting understands that there is a difference between "reliable" and "infallible" -- reliable means that the information is based on what the recruits are telling the staff, but there is no such thing as "infallible" information in recruiting because (1) the recruits themselves are subject to changing their minds, and (2) the recruits occasionally lie to the staff. Most of the time the staff, being adults used to dealing with kids, can recognize when a recruit is lying to them, but occasionally they are fooled by the recruit.

With that in mind, I take the what Skeeter and OCI bring to the board as reliable and I appreciate their input very much but do not look upon it as "gospel" fact -- they can be and occasionally are, incorrect. Nonetheless, they are very good sources of recruiting information.

jmoore is a poster who reads a lot from these threads and also a number of other sites and apparently has a very good memory for what he reads. He brings a lot of information from those other sites and shares it with us, and I am appreciative of his input also because I do not have the time (or patience) to do what he does.

Beyond those three, you have to develop a feel for who has good opinions and who are the BS artists. Good luck to you and Go Vols.

The first two, OCi and Skeet, have sources with the staff. They know what the staff knows which is very valuable though, at times, overly optimistic. Others with these kinds of connections include SpringBokVOl and LWSVols, though they don't post as often.

I4Jay and Miramar Vol have sources also. I4Jay knows Florida recruiting. Not sure about Miramar but he also brings the goods. VolonthePlains seems to know a thing or two about the SE Alabama region.

JMoore is probably the most knowledgeable recruiting guy on the board. He doesn't have any primary sources but contributes here whatever he gathers from other sources. He basically clues everyone in on who our possible targets are, but he doesn't really have much info that you can't find elsewhere. His big contribution is that he follows recruiting very closely and gathers every scrap of recruiting info.

There are others like him here: VolunteerLane, EricVol, MontrellHardy, TheBreakerboy, etc, but they aren't quite as plugged in.

Sorry if I missed any other valuable contributors. This is just off the top of my head.

Good assessment WesternKy. Would be interested to see which guys REALLY have sources and which are second-hand guys. There are also several posters who are good at relaying info from other sites, which is valuable on here as well.

I'm not sure why you all are worried by a visit to Georgia. This is very much like Pender visiting here. He just wanted to make sure he was making the right decision to sign with FSU. Patterson is visiting UGA just to make sure he's making the right decision with Tennessee.

He's a Vol, always has been.

The people complaining about this thread being off topic must enjoy watching paint dry. Nothing has changed in his recruiting in months. He is a Vol. He has been a Vol. If you want posts strictly concerning CP and his recruitment, this thread should be empty. Also, I find a discussion about potential QBs relevant to the thread of prospect WRs.

Thanks for the shoutout...I just try and bring info and logic to the board. I definatley don't have any great inside sources down here in SC on TN recruiting!

I love it though for sure!
