That's a strong group. I hope Arnett can help pull him in.

Comment From Mike
If you had to make a top 3, would Tennessee be in it?

OndrePipkins:
Mike: Yes .... it's the relationship with the coaches and the tradition --- only based on those things

I think it's not that bad. He hasn't visited us and is still impressed with the school and he loves Coach Baggett. He also said that he turns to a close group of friends for advice and counseling. Ralph and DeAnthony Arnett are part of that group, FWIW.

#40 DT on ESPN:

Pipkins is a big boy and he shows flashes of being a real handful at the nose. He has good overall size, but may need to spend some time in a college weight program not only improving strength but reworking his build some to allow his size to better work for him. He can show flashes of very good first-step quickness which can grab your attention. You would like to see it a little more consistently, but this is a kid capable of quickly exploding off on the snap of the ball. He does a good job of initially firing out low and deriving power from his lower body when engaging a blocker. He can seem to tend to hop during his initial steps and after an initial good get-off raise his pads and struggle to anchor the way his size and get-off would suggest he could. He shows flashes of being violent with is hands, but needs to use them better and as well as improve upper body strength. He can knock blockers back, but can also allow them to get into his chest and recover and tie him up as he gets taller. He is a kid capable of quickly knocking a blocker back and getting some penetration. His range is adequate and is a kid who will do his damage inside the tackles. He is a big man capable of getting into a blocker and driving him back and collapsing the pocket, but needs to keep moving his feet and keep that force going after his initial surge. With those flashes of good initial burst he will try and quick swim, but needs to develop the rip and work to focus on getting to half-a-man and using moves that will let him take advantage of his size and help him keep his pads down. It seems he will also need to adjust to a considerable jump in competition as he often looks to clearly be the biggest kid on the line. Pipkins game is a little like those Starburst commercials as there are some contradictions. His a big boy who can be very explosive, but he does not always let this strengths pay the dividends they should and he needs to keep developing his game so that he can accentuate his strengths and be the consistently disruptive nose that he shows flashes of being.

To me, this feels like a repeat of the Arnett recruitment. It was funny but in the rivals live chat earlier this month, Ralph (or someone posing as him) was posting questions about his recruitment... Coincidence? I hope so.

Comment From Ralph Arnett SagNastyRalph Arnett SagNasty: ]
Dre wut up doe! Who is recruuting you the hardest right now?
