Not a bad suggestion.IMO…this should be our base set on offense for the rest of the year and we should be in it 67% of the time (or more if needed)…
Kittselman and Bru have the most dependable hands on the team (and they do everything else really well too)…Ethan Davis is pretty much a big WR anyway that could split out to the slot in some situations…Staes and Thornton have been more than serviceable in their playing time…no other WR has proven they can be relied on when it matters…WR drops have been a consistent killer to this offense and we’re lucky they haven’t cost us more so far…
This set emphasizes our clear strength (run game) and still gives us plenty of ways to be dynamic in the passing game…I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the last time we looked good on O was two games (NC St and OU) where we led with this set…

The slot position is what make this offense so dangerous. Look at 21 & 22, we had Velus Jones and the Biletnikoff winner Hyatt. Both of those guys were vertical threats that could take the top off the defense or get YACs for big gainers. We haven’t had that the past 2 years. Defenses have adjusted to us and are trying to take away the deep ball and forcing into a ball control game, but we’re not making plays underneath. Nimrod has to make that catch going forward if we’re going to do anything special . Brazzell has to make that catch more consistently. If Squirrel can’t go, Squirrel can’t go. He’s not big enough to go out there and 1 hand a ball. I admire his toughness, but is he really helping us if he can’t make a play downfield w/o his arming hanging? Bru is fighting like hell each week, but he’s banged up. I think this week is key to getting guys that HAVE to play game reps. Nimrod, Matthews have to see more valuable time so the game slows down and they can be trusted in big moments. If I’m the coaches why not consider getting Sampson more involved in the pass game? Have a package where you Put Bishop, Seldon or Lewis in the backfield with Sampson and then put 6 in motion out of the backfield. If the slot position is going to continue to be one that doesn’t produce much, it wouldn’t hurt to get a little more diverse in our personnel groups. Just my opinion.Agree. I thought the WR group would be a strength. Turns out it is a weakness. I have heard Kevin Simon say, from the perspective of a talent scout, that he thought only adding Brazzell via the portal was a mistake . . . Because talent wise they didn’t have any studs at that position going into the season.
Matthews may end up being a stud - but not this year. Bru is playing hurt and is a possession type WR. White is hurt . . . And has struggled with drops. Thornton and Brazzell are not consistent. Nimrod actually caught the ball well last night . . . But dropped a TD he has to catch. He dropped a similar pass late against Florida.
Bottom line - in SEC games . . . More often than not the games are decided by 5-6 key plays. It’s not that our WRs NEVER make those plays . . . But more often than not they drop big play chances. And you can’t do that and perform at a championship level. They got by with it against UK . . . Because UK was beat up and is average compared to UGA (though they almost beat UGA!). But, dropped passes, dumb pre-snap penalties during road games, missed run “fits” like we saw last night = probable UGLY loss to UGA.
It should never require White stating STFU. Reason: There is more than enough fans that know better and will do it before it gets out of this forum.Luckily Heupel has White above him who will tell those “people” to STFU nicely.

Kentucky whether intentional or not seemed like they had a injured player every time we really got going. But I agree especially in the first half we had too many false starts and also a few holds though one called on us was highly questionable even announcers commented. Conversely, we got held terribly a few times in the first half without a call. But I noticed they started calling them holds by Kentucky in the second half. They were having serious trouble dealing with our rush. I saw Pearce get held 2-3 times early as well as Lott and Thomas got held good one time each. GBOSeeing this offense run wide open, is a thing of beauty. Granted was against FAU. USF is able to run it, up tempo. Get to line fast, and get run game going. We run tempo last night, and we score two more times at least.
Kentucky didnt belong on same field as us.
