'12 TN OL Brandon Hill

Loften was arrested for burglary last week.

And he had no business ever setting foot in a UT classroom. Probably would have flunked out.

I was under the impression that high risk was in reference to the ability to play football. Not off the field issues. If you go off of that, then no, Loften was not a high risk recruit.

It is really hilarious how quick you are to jump on CDD's case for ONE player. At least Loften was good. Shall we start on all the Kiffin players now? How many of the ones no longer on the team deserved to set foot in a UT classroom? I'll let you start, and I'm sure I'll have to tell you how many you left out.

Not to mention the fact that I have a strong feeling Loften getting his act together was part of the "Please, come play for us." deal.

Loften is a very talented player... that is what BOTH Kiffin and Dooley saw.

People need to stop blaming one or the other on Loften. Blame Loften on Loften.

How do we know Loften was good and Brandon Hill isn't? Doesn't add up since neither have ever played a down of college football.

If CDD was willing to take a "wait-and-see" approach with Loften, I'll trust his evaluation. Who said we don't really want Hill? I've never really commented on Hill.

And we don't have the ability to make the 'high risk' chances right now.

This kid is a different type of risk, IMO.

He is a really big kid, that is also really athletic. The risk here is can he be motivated to work hard enough to get better. Definitely has the potential, but is really raw talent at the moment.

Probably a kid that has a RS, and then at lead 1 more year before he is really ready for SEC ball, IMO.

That is exactly what Tennessee needs on the Oline in this class. They have the luxury of taking someone like that who doesn't need to be rushed on the field. Going any year without a single OLine recruit is worrisome and will hurt down the road at some point. This guy has incredible potential and it certainly seems like the staff feels that way about him as well considering how hard they've tried to get in on him since the summer.

I took that comment based on who you were responding to after someone was calling Hill a "high risk" chance.

Do we not need to still fill those spots with guys that are able to come in and contribute? I agree that we need to take more people like him but I just don't think we have the luxury to at this point. I would rather finish with guys on the DL, a TE, and the 2 WRs we have a shot with.

I agree, but I would be ok if UT were able to only get Jelks.

I think at the very least 1 offensive lineman, preferrably 2 is a must, even in this class. That is one position you do not want to get behind in numbers-wise. And I really dont think Hill is anymore of a project than a number of guys they currently have committed. I actually think he is a very underated prospect. But that's just my opinion.
