'12 TN OL Brandon Hill

Looks like he's holding out for that vandy offer.

Bama fans seem to think he's theirs to lose fwiw

I am not sure UA fans feel that way, but most would like to sign him.

Also I heard his offer from UA is conditional based on him getting his grades up in the classroom. The word is that he is possibly a sign and place due to grade issues at this point. FWIW

No OL in this class?

That would not surprise me at all. We had two great classes the previous two years, so we are sitting on a stockpile of very good young players. There was no great need this year for O-Line players so we could afford to be very selective. I think our depth kept us from landing an elite player (so far) and so we have concentrated on other positions where we have much more pressing needs.

I would rather have an elite 4 or 5 star defensive player or RB than Jelks all day long, and I think the staff feels the same way. If Jelks ends up signing with us, it will be because he was a silent commit all the way, not because he chose us late in the process.

I like your logic though I'm still tempted to try and get Brandon Hill. However, I would pass on any offensive linemen if we could land Denico Autry and/or Darious Hamilton. Whoa!

Does anyone have an update on this guy. From the rumors on the board we are cooling on Sentimore and not much has been said about McCullers, I think this kid has massive potential on the D-line. Idk if we are recruiting him at OT or DT though. OCI?

"His top three schools right now are Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi State," Hill said. "He has been to games this fall at Arkansas and Mississippi State. He was supposed to go to a Tennessee game but it didn't work out. Brandon is going to the Alabama/LSU game next weekend. Someone is going to get a really talented big kid that's very raw."

As I posted in another thread, an article on TOS quoted Dooley as saying that one of the biggest problem with our lack of a pass rush was that we did not have anyone big enough to demand a double team and still be able to collapse the pocket back to the QB. He said that doing that cuts off the escape routes that allow the QB and RB's escape contain, which is obviously a serious problem for our defense.

When I read that, I immediately thought of McCullers, but noted that the only other player of that size that we have been recruiting was B Hill. Tonight I asked OCI to comment on where we stood with both McCullers and Hill, but he has not responded yet. Hill is listed as an OL, but I think we liked him more as a D-Lineman.

Your post was the reason I thought of this guy so that makes sense :)

I was he would visit, with his frame he could dominate if he improves his technique. I am not saying he has bad technique, just that's what most O-LINEMAN have to work on coming out of high school.

He will be at the BAMA/LSU game tomorrow.

More senior talent in town
Some of the Alabama's top remaining targets will also be in town. One of them is big Brandon Hill (6-6, 358) of St. George's Independent School in Collierville, Tennessee. Hill helped his cause on the summer camp circuit and quickly became a hot commodity among SEC schools. He's keeping Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi State, among others under consideration.

He has raw talent, and has not received the best coaching up and until about a year ago....

Jmoore I hope you are right that the stuff is pushing for Hill. If we just weren't his choice thats ok, but I would be upset if we just let this guy go without a fight.

If we miss on McCullers then this would be the big DT that I'd like to have although he'd a good O-Lineman with good coaching.

The good news is that Alabama will not take Hill and McCullers. Does not mean the other one will come here by any means. But we wont lose both of them to Alabama.

Hill is a DT?

I dont know where in the world that is coming from. He's an offensive lineman all the way and that is what everyone is recruiting him as.

I sure hope he does take an official here. Tennessee coaches have been trying hard since this summer to get the kid interested in the Vols. That's a big feather in their cap if they can get him in for a visit.

This kid has all the tools to become a dominate offensive lineman in 3-4 years.

I was going to say we are recruiting him for the OL and right now he is our top player on the board. Unless this weekend we can sway A young or A Armstead.

Have not heard that. Have though starting hear alot of nice reports from the visits though so who knows.
