12 TN RB I'tavius Mathers

Being that he isn't coming here I'll be glad when people stop posting his stats. Everytime I see them I get a little queasy. Just sickening to think he is going to "Ole Miss".

I know the word is that Mathers wants to go out of state, but someone needs to tell him Knoxville is 3hrs from Murfreesboro. :)

He won't know anyone there.

So is his coach deliberately pushing him away from UT or he just never wanted to come here?

Mostly his coach and other influences. His coach was at Smyrna with Rod Wilks and doesn't like the way that UT has used him (or maybe hasn't used would be more appropriate).

He grew up an AU fan, but I don't think he hates UT.

That's absurd for a coach to be like that..let the kid make his own decisions.

Why the heck he wants to go to that train wreck in Ole Piss is beyond me. Tenn seems to have glaring need at his position he should at least reconsider. Nutt sounds like a lame duck coach even though he has a crazy buyout!

Bad advice from his coaches. IMO. He's a talented kid and will succeed anywhere he decides to go though.

Its not like he wants to come to UT but Shad is deliberately pushing him away from UT. Mathers wants to leave the state to go to college. He also really wants to play immediately. I will not go into the details but he had issues early in high his school career because he was not a starter from day 1. With him choosing Ole Miss out of his list of offers, I think being 'the man' as soon as he steps foot on campus is important to him.

I can respect that, especially the out of state part.

He'll go to Ole Miss and play for that crazy pirate lover that got canned at Texas Tech.

Mathers should give Tennessee a visit and a good look before National Signing Day. Awesome university, education, coaching, facilities, and fans.

BE A VOL.
