Gotcha, got a little confused with the talk about players beating up band kids. I'm not saying I want the kids going into the stands no matter what but, for the adults, that's just beyond pathetic behavior.

I don't care how old someone is, you're no man in my book if you can't take heckling without fighting.

And I don't care if you're a 10 year old, if you can't shrug off boos, you don't deserve to be on the field. That's what I coach my little leaguers, and that's what every half decent coach in the world coaches. If any of my kids respond to fans or other players with anything other than improving their play on the field, they get yanked.

And I don't heckle any athlete, millionaire or not.

You really expect a 10 year old kid to shrug off boos well??? If a little leaguer gets booed or heckled. I'd punch that adult in the mouth myself.

Yes, I expect that. It's every coach's job to teach that. Everything inside me wants to beat the sh1t out of those loud mouths heckling kids, but being a man means not resulting to violence unless you absolutely have to and not giving the haters the satisfaction of rattling you.

I mouthed off to a heckler once my whole life and my coach benched me for two games. Best lesson I ever learned.

If a heckler says something to you that angers you to the point of wanting to fight them, then that heckler has gotten the better of you, and maybe deep down you believe what they're saying about you.

I've never seen so much hate for a kid who never bashed the Vols. Especially the poster calling him a punk and saying he hopes he gets hurt. That's just BS to wish harm on a player especially a HS kid.

Lmao at people saying its ok for high school kids to fight someone for trash talk. Get thicker skin, you're a ****ing football player. If you can't handle it then don't put on the uniform. Breakerboy, saying you beat up anybody talking trash is garbage. You are not cool.

Unreal how some athletes think they deserve accolades when they succeed but no one better say a word when they suck. Paying fans can say whatever they darn well please. And any football player who would beat up a band geek is a textbook coward.

Just read through this thread and read this. You say I'm a coward because I was a 15-17 kid and we just threw around some guys? Man please give me a break. Our team was like a family and we ran the school. Band members aren't all geeks and most were left alone. But the big mouths that thought they were tough were tossed around or roughed up. Not bullying just setting some order. I don't know what HS you went or what team you were on but that's just how things went at my school. Nobody was in fear if the football players were walking by them but they knew they were going to respect us(especially since we were good lol).

Oh well I was a 15-17 year old kid at the time. It happens they lived without scars and there was no blood shed. I've gotten into a real fight with one of our D-linemen at the time in HS(beat the hell out of that boy too). He had around 40-50 pounds on me. It happens I'm not making excuses or apologizing either. Would I do it now? no, would I teach that? no, But I do know where these kids are coming from. So I won't judge them like some of this board is doing.

Maybe you should read where I said I got into a fight with one of our(the Team) D-linemen. Kid was my age and had 40-50 pounds on me. He was an a-hole who started crap with a lot of people. He got mad and jumped on me over my buddies house so I had to go for what I know. Roughing some kids up once is much different than bullying. I didn't seek out and destroy weak kids. Hell I was worse on young football players 9-10th graders than the others.
