Foster considered a couple of different options before landing at Auburn High School in April. He traveled to the Auburn football complex several times with ease with a short drive to campus. He continued to build his relationship with the coaching staff and formed a great bond with Auburn assistant coach, Trooper Taylor. Foster flipped to Auburn on July 12, 2012.
Foster decommitted from Auburn on December 7, 2012 after Gene Chizik and the rest of the coaching staff was fired. Foster decided it was the best option to re-open his recruitment. He met with the new coaching staff. It appeared the Tigers were the team to beat to get Foster back on board.
Alabama maintained open lines of communication with Foster. Defensive Coordinator Kirby Smart also had built a great relationship. He was a key component in the Tide landing the five-star.
Foster took official visits to Washington, Alabama, Georgia, San Diego State and Auburn. Many believed Alabama got back strongly in the mix when he took an official visit on January 18. It still appeared Auburn was the frontrunner and a lot to also do with his daughter and mother living in Auburn.
The 6-foot-1, 240-pound prospect took his official visit to Auburn on Friday night. He remained until Saturday afternoon before traveling to Tuscaloosa for a surprise unofficial visit.
Foster's recruitment has been unpredictable since he decommitted from Alabama, but the Tide landed his commitment again Monday night. They expect to receive his LOI on Wednesday, but all on the UA campus will feel much better when the fax document is in hand.
Foster's commitment definitely looks good for the Crimson Tide to finish with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the third straight year on Rivals.com.
