What Barkley and the USC offense would do to our defense is terrifying.

We'd eat that weak defense alive. Nickell Robey couldn't even get off the block versus Oregon. I think USC as a team bought into the hype and their defense did too. Their defense would catch hell. Their CBs are bad too. McDonald hasn't lived up to the hype either. Wouldn't mind watching that shootout. Would really damage USC's rep to get points poured on them in the national spotlight.

Ill give 1 example. Lanier would still be playing at LSU, Bama or UF. The athletics department cant get involved with the tutoring of athletes like they do at other schools. The ads at these other schools stay on top of this stuff. Cheek will not even think about changing that policy. this is one of the reasons alot of coaches wont come here, they want more control and its just not possible at this time.

Would we have Crawley and Loften right now without these admin problems?

I don't think it would be close, USC would kill us

USC has a very bad offensive line. Would be much easier getting to Barkley than half the qbs we've seen so far. Stanford hit him a lot, 0 tds with 2 ints. Kiff leaves Barkley in to inflate his stats as well. He only missed 2 drives against UC, they took him out in the 4th when the score was like 42-6. He only missed 1 series against Hawaii in a blowout, yet he only has 5 more tds 30 than Brays 25. They have played 1 decent defense, Stanford. I think it would be a fun game.

Oh it wouldn't damage Tn program more than what Dooley has already done to get blowed out by USC on a national stage ? Kiffin is a better coach than Dooley and Chaney and it pains me to say that. USC has a better def than Troy. USC had turnovers in that game against Oregon that killed drives. We're 0-5 in the SEC for a reason.

They would let Marquise Lee forgo his junior and senior after he was done with our secondary.lol

So your saying Troys OL is better than USC ? Tn hasn't put pressure on nobody this year. They have made every QB look like all pro QBs. Ga St was even passing on Tn and even Akron passed on this D. Teams are having record days against Tn

Seriously Dooley lost to Kentucky. On a national scale the respect factor took a major dip. Kiffin can be a better coach than Dooley but their defense is terrible. Also Oregon had a turnover or two or they may have put up 800 total yards. Come on with the shenanigans because USC is losing Rich Rod in his first year. Also Kiffin can't beat Stanford. His teams are frontrunners that never come from behind to win. Kiffin is a great recruiter but only a decent coach.

Chavis what happened? You were so definitive and convinced that Dooley was out and Gruden was in. Going around in every thread dropping little subtle hints..Lol.

it doesnt matter what i think. the question is who will replace him. As of right now, no coach worth a darn wants to come here, just like when Dooley took the job. why take a chance on someone unproven and start all over again. if a few things get changed in the next year maybe a proven coach will come in and take the job and have a decent roster to start with. Ill go on record and say i want nothing to do with Smart, its not that i doubt his coaching ability. If Smart were to be hired this year and shows he can coach, he will bolt to UGA if they ever come calling.

So what will be said if Arkansas and/or Auburn go out and make a better hire than we end up making if indeed we go that route? Those jobs are not better than UT. Why would a good coach go to either of those places over Tennessee? We have to think big and realize we are bigtime and go out and pay a bigtime coach bigtime money. That's how we get back to recruiting big and winning big. The problem at UT as of late is we have too many small thinkers with no vision and no understanding of how much the football program means to not only the school but the entire state. The leadership in place right now suggests as much.

I still think Dooley is done and I'm not throwing in the towel with Gruden yet.

Dooley isn't even a decent coach and Sal I don't know what the hell he is suppose to be. But Tn isn't beating USC, not with this staff. I know USC isn't that great but it would get ugly and get worse for us. I would love to see Tn beat USC by 100 but not with these coaches.

Let me clarify that I want Gruden just as much as the next UT fan, but it's just not practical, ATP.

They would probably win by all of 10 points at the most. That defense of theirs is terrible and CP would kill those CBs. Robey is overrated at CB out there.

It sounds like there's a message coming from the POTB that is designed to slow the wheels of change if not stop it in its tracks. There's an alternate message coming from somewhere (I suppose the boosters and maybe Hart, if you believe it) that change is coming fast and hard. I'm paying attention to both but hoping the latter is correct.

Preach it, brother.
