Sort of thought that was the direction with OSU and Texas behind. I did read not to long ago that Bell was going to name a final 2 before the season and only visit those 2 schools.

Just read the article. Said he latest list was those 5 as mentioned a long with Clemson and Vandy. Said he will cut down his list to a final 3 very soon. Wants to make his decision in the middle of the season. Plans on taking an OV to his final three and see how the teams look and makes a decision from there. His comment about the surprise seems to be about people regarding it is an UT/OSU battle more assuming than knowing. He said some think they know but will be surprised. I would say the 3rd team in there is probably Texas if I had to guess.

I'm a UT grad and work in another SEC athletic dept.

It's a fact UT isn't on the same level as those other schools right now. Saying so does not make me a troll. Hopefully that changes over the next decade though.
