Beginning to think JG wins the QB spot. There's two slots when Dormady and Jones transfer.
Dormady enrolled back in spring of 2015. Next year will be his 6th and 7th semesters of college. He may be in a position to graduate next May. Not sure transferring is in his best interest.

I'm sure his credits are transferable.

I believe he was saying he could graduate early and then transfer without sitting out AFTER next season. I assume that's what he meant.

But then he would lose another year of eligibility. If he's not a starter, then transferring would allow him to use his RS year.

If he is not the starter then he is only one play away from being the starter.

Or hundreds of plays. If you're going into your third year and you lose out to a RS freshman in open competition, it's not about opportunity.

Transfer after the spring and he 100% doesn't play a down next season. Being the backup to a redshirt freshman means there are lots of situations where he plays next season. Then toy transfer after season and play immediately. I think both options are legit. Depends on what he wants to do.

Doesn't play if transfers, yes. But he would still have 2 full years at a place where he could see more playing time. If he stays as a backup, he will see the field in a limited role, then would only have one full year elsewhere.

I hope he stays, but if he doesn't win the starting job, I have a hard time seeing it.

One year of eligibility in your scenario vs two via redshirt transfer route. :dunno:

You guys are all talking about the eligibility stuff, but I'm over here wondering if he's even interested in coming here.

Just wondering if you've changed your opinion regarding bag men for Clemson.

why would his opinion change? His opinion was dead on. All schools pay, but the thing that separates the haves and have nots is what you're willing to spend to get the best and establish your presence or dominance on the recruiting trail which then leads to championships on the field see Ala, Clemson, FSU, Auburn, USC, and so on.

I think he's a talented QB and I think he would agree. I don't get the "second time" transfer thing. He didn't really transfer. They let him out of it and he returned because he felt he had given up too soon on competing for a starting spot...IMO. If he returned for that reason and it doesn't work out, the natural decision is to transfer where he can start...it fits.

Edit: I've seen the changing position theory posted several times on here. If he were to make that change, our QB situation is no better after a Dormady transfer. You're still down to JG,Jancek and McBride. :hmm:

idk, but the whole sideline thing vs VT doesn't come across as a transfer guy. to me the whole colorado thing came across as a mistake which gave him some perspective.

and i wasnt saying it was any better except that it firms up the number two guy, whoever he is.

The sideline champion thing shows he's a competitor. Which was why he returned from Colorado...to compete. If he loses out I see that same competitive drive somewhere else.

Would be huge to get this guy.

Would likely give us the luxury of letting Tuttle redshirt (like Maggit did in 2013) and give us legitimate depth at DT

I agree that all schools pay. He seemed to be defending Clemson and saying that they did not have to pay. That is why I asked the question. I know that there is probably a great deal that goes on behind the scenes at all schools that we would probably all rather not know anything about.
