'13 JUCO DB Riyahd Jones (UT commit 12/21/12)

This kid is more worried about what kind of shoes are on his feet than breaking into the 2 deep rotation IMO.

After reading about his journey to Tennessee and how he's overcome his health problems, I don't really think so. It just seems some guys are more talented.

I know he had his health issue, but this is disappointing. Those JUCO's... you just never know, but it is true, more often than not, disappointment. Just over the last few seasons...

Win (gon CP)
1. CP
2. ...

Lose (did virtually nothing)
1. Sentimore
2. Quinn
3. Jones (apparently)
4. Gooch

Draw (contributed, did not excel or live up to hype)
1. Couch
2. B. Moore
3. Jon. Johnson
4. Dan McCullers

and yet every year, we are drooling over the JUCO's and their "immediate impact."

Sentimore was such a joke. But I think Jon. Johnson really has a chance to be good. I thought he was really under used and is one of the more unspoken about guys. Don't think he'll ever be great, but could really make an impact.

Gooch? c'mon man...he was a backup plan at best...zero to 2 stars

:) I guess he shouldn't like fly shoes when he's off the field. Lol That has nothing to do with his play on the football field.

Lol maybe the other guys are just better, or he isn't fully healthy. Has nothing to do with his personal preferences

How can you have Blair or Pearson on your list when the season hasn't even started. You're being very premature in your assessment. I don't remember Johnson having any hype. He was discovered while recruiting someone else. You may want to edit your list to those players that have completed their time at UT.

Agreed. That's why I have statements afterwards. This is based on what we have heard from practice reports, and both could easily bust, or win when the rubber meets the road. It's my early opinion, though my gut tells me Blair will be a solid contributor, maybe not the Titan we hoped for.

You must admit, Blair was thought to be an instant plug into the starting lineup, and a walk-on is taking those snaps, so the current progress would be seen as 'lacking'. VP may be Kenny O'Neal 2. We will see

It's April, not August. Pump your brakes.

Remember Jones was recruited prior to Sutton arrival and before we ever heard of Mosley. He was looked at Asa replacement to Teague and to a be graduating Coleman and finally before the 14 recruiting class was signed. He has been over recruited.

A three legged mongoose could've replaced Teague

Sentimore was more productive than both Couch and Moore. He was arguably our best DL in 2012. Moore was an unequivocal bust from a talent standpoint.

I disagree; maybe he wasn't the total answer we hoped for, but he played a lot in what was admittedly a weak defensive backfield, particularly under Sal. But he played hard, made some big plays and was a team player throughout his career. I really like the guy.

I think it's too early to put Blair in there. JMO.

Agreed. Blair is undergoing the transition from JUCO to SEC ball and is struggling to adjust to the speed, strength, and talent, which is understandable. He has time from now until fall camp to get in better shape, home technique, and understand the competition. My guess is Blair will look much different when fall camp begins, when fall camp ends, and then better still as the season progresses. We cannot forget that Blair was recruited by many elite programs for a reason.

I liked him too. He is a good representative of the University and never did anything wrong, but he was the worst starting defensive player in the SEC in 2012 and borderline 2-deep in a bad secondary in 2013. If he had another year of eligibility he would be fighting to stay in the 3-deep in 2014.

Hey Nick, I think this is valuable at least with the nuanced disclaimers. I'm with you; I hope Blair comes on skrong in the fall, but right now he seems to be a disappointment. Nice work.

Also recruited like a beast last year.
