'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

John Martin ‏@JohnMartinCA
Tennessee commit Jason Carr is wreaking havoc on Arlington's offensive line. Hard to block a 6-5, 250-pound man child.

:good!:

6'5"/280lbs. is great size for a DE...This dude might be my fav. recruit of the '13 so far.

He's our best commit so far. And very underrated by everybody. He'll be able to come in contribute in a reserved role as a freshman. This is the type of D-lineman that made UT what we were in the late 90s early 2000s.

He's this year's Drae Bowles. Committed early on, not a lot of noise surrounding his recruitment after that, and may be our best recruit from the class.

Watched him play Friday at CBHS from the sidelines. He is freaking HUGE - and looks like he has zero body fat. A true monster. Didn't make any game changing plays but has the look of a Div 1 player for sure.

Talked to a kid who went to WSHS when Carr was a freshman (this kid was a senior safety at the time). Was amazed to hear Carr was committed to UT right now. Said he was gigantic even as a freshman, but he said he was also very raw. He's obviously made a lot of progress.

What did he mean by that?

That he was surprised by the progress he made in 3 years. He said that he definitely had a D1 body and athleticism. He was also just surprised someone he played with in HS is committed to a big program like UT.

Okay that sounds better. I just didn't know what to think of his "surprised" comment.

Yea, sorry for the vagueness. One of his first comments to me was noting that Carr was simply bigger than everyone. He said his athletic ability was pretty scary, just mentioned that he was raw at the time (remember he was a freshman at the time).

This guy is my favorite current recruit. His size and athleticism is similar to some of the LSU/Bama big time defensive ends over the last several years. I think he is going to be big time in the 3-4.

He's definitely raw but he has all the tools. I agree with others that he's the top commit Tennessee currently has with Miles and Reeves-Maybin rounding out the Top 3 for me.
