'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

Carr, a Rivals250 defensive end from Memphis (White Station), Tenn., committed to Tennessee when Derek Dooley was directing the Volunteers. Dooley is gone now, replaced by former Cincinnati coach Butch Jones.

"He's a good guy," Carr said. "I'm really anxious to go up there on my official visit Friday. He's a real hungry guy. He wants to prove himself in the SEC."

"Alabama is Alabama," Carr said. "They're a very stable program. I've never really had a chance to talk to Coach (Nick) Saban face-to-face. I'm looking forward to that.

"I still love Ole Miss. It's a great program, an uprising program. Coach (Hugh) Freeze has that program on the rise." Carr said the Crimson Tide and Rebels both have a chance to pull him away from the Volunteers. "When I committed to Tennessee, they showed top-notch interest," Carr said. "The others are going to have to do that."

Carr said he doesn't have a timetable to make a final decision, noting he has "a lot of time." Carr said he's "determined to take the visits," but he wouldn't rule out ending the process if his 48 hours in Knoxville answer all his questions. "I'm just going to go," Carr said. "If that happens, it happens."

I've stated before that once Carr came back to Knoxville to meet with the new coaches, people would starting singing a different tune.

I actually worry more about Alabama making a push for Carr than Ole Miss. Bama is behind in recruiting right now given their NC preparations. Now that they have another title, their pitch just got better.

It also doesn't help that Bama just lost Demarcus Walker. With that said, I see Butch as being a closer once they are on campus. He flipped Jenkins with an UOV, and I see him locking down Carr after his OV this weekend.

This has a Ladarrell McNeil feel to it, everybody is worried cuz he's taking his visits and for sure think he's going to decommit, but come NSD he signs his papers to UT with no drama at all.

Lawson is now taking his OV on the 18th, which leaves Carr by himself this weekend (unless we have other recruits coming). I'd kinda rather have it this way so BJ can focus a lot on Carr and solidify his commitment.

Tennessee is expected to host some 6-10 visitors this weekend including tight end Woody Quinn, defensive end Jason Carr, defensive back Malik Foreman, quarterback Riley Ferguson, and maybe running back Johnathan Ford.

McNeil was pretty quiet, however. Carr is clearly looking around since Dooley was fired. There is nothing wrong with that, obviously.

I agree with you though, more from a perception standpoint. It seems like everyone is worried about Carr, but he just needs to get in front of the coaches. Based on what we've seen so far, we shouldn't worry too much.

"I've already seen everything and of my course my brother's up there and I'm going to see him and I just want to get to know the coaches," Carr said when asked what he's looking forward to seeing this weekend. "It's a whole new staff except for Jay Graham and I'm still good friends with him and we've got a good relationship, but basically I want to get to know the rest of the staff and I'm anxious to see that. Then, I want to see the new facility now that it's done and finalized. I'm anxious to see that, also."

While it will be the first time he sees most of the new staff wearing Orange and White, it isn't the first time Carr has met a good number of the coaches as he was on hand for a Cincinnati practice last year when the team was preparing for the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

"Actually, last year when they came to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl I visited one of their practices and that's when I met them," Carr said. Carr began to build his relationship with new defensive line coach Steve Stripling this past weekend when the veteran defensive line coach met with Carr on Saturday. "It was real good. We're just building a good relationship. The guy knows football. He's the type of guy that can teach me a lot and he knows a lot of football," Carr said.

"They showed the most interest when I first committed to them. When I first committed to them Tennessee had shown a lot of interest in me and I just want to feel the same way," Carr offered. "When I go back up there hopefully I feel that same way and I get that feeling."

while carr has publicly stated that he plans to take his remaining visits to alabama and ole miss, it will be very much worth watching after this weekend if carr's plan changes at all. He's indicated to some that he doesn't plan to go on those visits if everything checks out at tennessee and he's comfortable with the new coaching staff.

Lets hope it's McNeil and not Peters...Peters was a rock solid commit (per his own words) right up to the second he decommitted

3 things happen this weekend:

(1) Carr shuts his recruitment down and is solid to UT

(2) Morris commits

(3) North commits to the coaches and announces UT on NSD (or before)

Someone paint the rock, this guy is a huge pull for us.. We are battling Alabama and Ole Miss for him. 2 great SEC programs if this guy was uncommitted his thread would be popping up constantly. Hope this weekend solidifies his commitment.
