Carr, a Rivals250 defensive end from Memphis (White Station), Tenn., committed to Tennessee when Derek Dooley was directing the Volunteers. Dooley is gone now, replaced by former Cincinnati coach Butch Jones.
"He's a good guy," Carr said. "I'm really anxious to go up there on my official visit Friday. He's a real hungry guy. He wants to prove himself in the SEC."
"Alabama is Alabama," Carr said. "They're a very stable program. I've never really had a chance to talk to Coach (Nick) Saban face-to-face. I'm looking forward to that.
"I still love Ole Miss. It's a great program, an uprising program. Coach (Hugh) Freeze has that program on the rise." Carr said the Crimson Tide and Rebels both have a chance to pull him away from the Volunteers. "When I committed to Tennessee, they showed top-notch interest," Carr said. "The others are going to have to do that."
Carr said he doesn't have a timetable to make a final decision, noting he has "a lot of time." Carr said he's "determined to take the visits," but he wouldn't rule out ending the process if his 48 hours in Knoxville answer all his questions. "I'm just going to go," Carr said. "If that happens, it happens."
