I've mentioned elsewhere that I've had about enough of the 'OLine sucks' dialogue.
Having said that...
I know it's Chattanooga, and I know it was a tired defensive line that was down 28 at the time. I also know that offensive line is the position that I know least about in terms of technique, so I'm hardly the person to judge. But I looked through Freak's play-by-play offense video specifically to watch Sanders, and what I saw made me legitimately wonder why he doesn't get real snaps.
I saw him make a block on every play but one (he slipped into the second level and missed on a LB... ended up not mattering because Peterman got smoked in the backfield by a DE from the right side if I recall). Every time I saw him make a block, he pushed his man into the defensive backfield and frequently planted him. I don't think I've seen pancake blocks from any other offensive linemen since Week 2.
Surely there's a place on this line for Sanders right now. I believe in Butch Jones and I think he has a plan. I think that plan will work. But I also think it's possible to focus so intently on the future of your team that you lose sight of the present. Will these snaps eventually pay off for Robertson and Thomas? Probably. But I find it difficult to believe that in the short term, we wouldn't be better off with Sanders at LT, Kerbyson at RT, and Thomas in the weight room.
