UT doesn't want the #3 running back in the nation in April 2011? #201 overall player? That's screwed up.

FYP, these are still just rivals initial rankings. Look at the other running backs we are in on such as Derrick Henry and Kamara just to name a couple. Look at Dodson's offer list compared to those two

Relying on the rankings to recruit is never the right approach. Ask Randy Shannon or Phil how that turns out. You recruit to fill needs and Dodson apparently doesn't fill a need. I don't see any of the major players who run offenses similar to our knocking down his door either.

That's BS people have been quoting rivals and scout on this board since its inception.

People qouted scouted initially, but have stopped the past couple of years, but they have really gone down hill. Alot of the player threads do not even have scout linked, because their rankings are such a joke. 247 and rivals are vastly superior.

An instate kid like this you have a much better shot at signing IMO. Seems like a mistake not to even offer him.

i dont think there rankings are that far apart usually. They are usually on the same page with most players.

247 is new, i dont think they have a track record yet, but their team rankings look almost identical to rivals.

Im telling you, he is not interested in UT at all. He is exactly like Itavius Mathers, just because they are from Tennessee doesn't mean they are interested in UT. Especially if they live in Memphis.

Scout is a joke because their team rankings make no sense. Their formula values quantity over quality. Scout is still somewhat good for player updates and interviews. Their player rankings aren't awful, but they still aren't as good as Rivals or 247. JMO.

I like Bourque a lot. He's #196 overall and a great recruit. But from what I read, he's considered a much better DB prospect then RB, even though he wants to play RB. I think thats why Scout downgraded him from 4 to 3 stars. That was the point. Not which recruiting service was better.

And no other elite program has either but because rivals has him as a 4 star you are mad? Makes perfect sense.

apparently you have some reading comprehension problems. He's 4 stars, #3 all purpose RB, and #201 overall prospect on Rivals. He's got offers from Miss, Arkansas, Okla State, Texas Tech, etc.

here try reading this again

You just proved my point. No elite program wants him. His two good offers are from teams that utilize a scat back in the passing game.

Yeah, but we are looking for everydown backs this year. Also, just guessing by his offer list, but I have a feeling he will slide back in the rankings this summer. We have Derrick Henry (5 star 247, 4 star rivals, and 5 star scout) coming in next week for his second visit and Alvin Kamara and Jabo Lee (who we apparently lead for and Graham seems to like him) coming up as well. Also still in it with players like Tyshon Dye, Derrick Green, and many more will pop up throughout the summer. Like has been mentioned before at this point last year we did not even know about most of our top signees.

Yeah, Joke was a bit strong. Just getting at the fact that if you are arguing about a player based on rankings I would not be using scout vs rivals and 247

At what point did I say I didn't believe you? Thats not the point I was making. Dooley has lost several good instate players in that area. That was the point of the post. Not whether or not he had any interest in UT, my first post said he was high on Miss.

Being high on Mississippi should tell you that he isn't what elite teams are looking for at rb.

Who has Dooley "lost" in Memphis?

We stopped pursuing kimbrow last year..Robinson didn't really have a ton of interest in UT and almost everyone thought he'd be an academic casualty.

We signed cam clear in 11 and tino thomas this past cycle. Already have a national top 200 guy in Jason Carr committed for 13 and we're in good shape with Herron.

Are they elite? Yes. Are they an elite offer for a RB? No. How many elite RB's have played for Oklahoma state recently?
