'13 TX FS Kameron Miles

Rob Cassidy tells us that former Tennessee commitment Kameron Miles will most likely end up at either Boise State or Tennessee, depending on his offer situation. Miles is at Butler community College right now.

He had his chance to be a VFL and he chose otherwise. NEXT

I disagree. If he can ball and we have room then we should take him. Unfortunately, we probably don't have room. Facts are, TX and Memphis players are wild cards. It's near impossible to pull those guys when schools close to them start offering aka Texas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, etc.

If it was the Boise State of yesteryear than I might have to consider but Boise State is trending down for two years now.

I think he's a guy that could also play linebacker depending on how much he really weighs. Butler has him at 205 but I've been told he's bigger than that, maybe around 215.

You laugh! but with your logic.... You would have passed on him before we knew cam newton was cam newton because he was at juco and didn't deserve a second chance

I understand the belief of not leaving every stone unturned. But you can't compare miles to newton. Our numbers are already tight as it is and I don't think he is one of the top priorities left on the board for UT (aye I might be wrong). Also they aren't comparable: oranges to apples. Cam Newton is a rare kind of athlete (#1 draft pick & heisman winner). The chances of miles having the same impact and results as newton is slim very slim. Also cam and his "people" brough a lot of scrutiny and unwanted imvestigations with him to Auburn. UT doesn't need anymore of that (Kiffin).

If we are not (as it appears) pursuing Sapp and Atkinson (AU commit) I don't see this coming to fruition. As Leb says... "The numbers."

JMO, but I believe the issue going forward is what are the biggest needs vs. how many spots appear to be left.

I understand that there is a maximum number that can be taken in the class. However, I suspect that CBJ and Co. would "encourage" some existing commits to look around if the position those recruits fill are not as pressing as others. Or they will just stop pursuing some highly ranked kids that have yet to make their choice.

For example, based on reports, it sounds like the DE depth is in far better shape since Barnett and Hendrix appear to be staying put vs. sliding inside as some had projected. On the other hand, the OL may be a bigger challenge than thought a few months back.

With that said, it will be interesting to see if the recruiting heats up for certain positions and cools even more for others over the next few weeks as we see the team mature on the field.

Scholarships are given yearly. Butch does not have to renew their scholarship if he wants to recruit over them. Does not mean they are off the team, they would just have to pay their own way. That, however, does make a lot of kids transfer.

Correct, for existing scholarship athletes.

I'm strictly referring to recruits that have yet to sign. A couple or more of the commits may be replaced between now and NSD with athletes that meet bigger needs (or simply progress more during their Senior year in HS).

Seems to happen every year.

Committed to Boise State.

He was one of my favorite commits when he was committed to us. What happened to him? Grades? I see that he wasn't recruited an anywhere near the level of what he was coming out of HS (according to his 247 profile).

Edit: I see his is in the '16 class so that is probably why he doesn't have any other offers at this point.
