He's pretty darned violent though. Pure headhunter on kickoff team. He goes down field knowing he's going to decleat someone.

Well I'm glad he's going to be in orange. I watched his film and man he is violent. I would almost say he is as violent as cherry, but I don't think anyone in the whole world is as violent as him.

they are equally as violent but in different aspects. Cherry is like a "brick by brick" wall. Bryant is violent because he hits people at full speed. Cherry is like a whiplash and Bryant is a decleater. although they both have some of each characteristic

Honestly, I don't give a crap how hard a guy hits as long as the wrap up and make the stop. I think a good portion of the recent defensive woes can be attributed to the "violent hit" mentality.

This kid could be our Cam Sutton. If one of these freshman middle linebackers come in and are studs like Bryant, Johnson or Mouhon could AJ play outside like he did when he was a freshman and that was probably his best year

The thing that excites me most about this class is that we could multiple Cam Suttons in it, in terms of their ability to instantly impact the play on the field at an All-Conference level.

First off read the post before you bash it. I never said he could beat AJ out for a spot. I said if he is good enough to play the mike linebacker spot then AJ could play outsidebacker instead of the mike. Which is what he played his freshman year and he was a stud. Never said he could beat him out entirely

I agree. My hope it that AJ learns how to square up in the hole from a freshman like Gavin that already does it naturally.

But there is more to it than that. AJ runs to the tackle high much of the time. To play inside effectively you have to play lower and use leverage because you are not going to see over the top of the O-linemen that are generally taller than you.

My exact thoughts! As I was reading the OP about moving AJ to OLB, all I could come up with was "huh". And :crazy:
