So what level of reading are we talking here? When someone says "he can't read" is that to say he has a 5th grade reading level or he literally cannot read? Honestly it seems silly to think a kid would get past 5th grade without being able to read. They start holding you back in 3rd grade if you can't read IIRC and at the very least schools will recognize if a student cannot read and develop a specialized program / class to suit him.That's not true at all. Nice Freakonomics reference... That guy is a genius figuring all that out from just piles of data laying around when no other economist has. Was sweet to see him prove the Chicago teachers a bunch of cheaters, but was hardly a surprise. The sumo thing caused a humongous scandal in japan. I liked the chapter on names and their effect on future success. Also bill Clinton claiming success in reducing the crime rate but finding out that it was the 18-22 year window after roe vs wade. Many were unsettled that we were killing the people from a poor subculture that was most likely to commit crime. It put them in a conundrum for sure
