'14 DC CB D'Andre Payne (UT commit 4/3/13)

Did anyone else read this on Basilio this morning? I didn't understand any of it. Payne is a 2015 commitment and just now committed? The class is wrong and he committed 5 months ago. He even linked to an article from 4/3. Did someone else commit and he just got mixed up?

I noticed that too and thought it was pretty strange. Payne's been on board with Butch probably longer than Basilio has.

“Before the game started, when the band started playing and the guys came out the tunnel and they were about to run through the power ‘T,’ man, I was, like, stuck — like, ‘I’m going to be here next year at this time. This is going to be me.’

“It was really a great moment to see that, and I just can’t wait for it.”

“It was exactly what I expected it to be,” Payne said. “They said it was about 97,000 there. It was crazy, man. It was about what I expected it to be. The fans were rowdy and everything, so it was good.”

“I just love it, man,” said Payne, who remains on track to graduate in December and be an early enrollee at Tennessee. “When I get there, I’m not ready to go back home. I have so much fun there. He got to speak to CBJ and CWM after the game and held good conversations with them. Also, he hung out with Vic Wharton and Gaulden after the game, and he's buidling a great rapport with them. This guy is as solid of a commitment as you can get right now.

Dang, hate it for the kid. The article said his dad is trying to move to the district so he would be eligible. Maybe he can come back for part of the season.

Now I get all the love he's been tweeting out about UT. Sounds like he was pretty happy with the coaches saying all of this would have no affect on his status at UT (shouldn't be anything he would need to worry about anyways, but if he's happy with how it was handled then I'm happy).

Nah, finish your degree in the winter and head on down D'Andre. It woun't hurt to get a head start in the weight room.

I actually like how Payne handled this. Spoke very little about it. Glad he is back on the field though and in the classroom.
