Wow! He really may just win a starting spot, all he lacked was the weight it seems. Maybe that's why we are ok moving Maggitt to DE full time.
Let's hope not. True freshmen winning starting spots isn't always a good thing. They will need him for sure, but UT will be playing AJ and JRM most of the time as the only LBs on the field. I can just about bet the base D becomes nickel.

Spot on.. Most posters think we should field our entire starting offense and Defense with true freshman each year. Also, if they do. Atleast contribute by their sophomore year they are labeled a bust or over recruited...Let's hope not. True frosh winning starting spots isn't always a good thing. I don't think JRM is as "speedy" as some think he is. In the O and W game on Worley's long run JRM is trailing behind him and losing ground on WORLEY. Also when he was coming out of H.S. He ran a 4.8 40 as a 198 pound safety prospect.
IMO Bates would be better in coverage. iirc he was rated as the best olb in coverage in the whole class of 2014. He also ran a 4.51 40 at the opening last year.
