This. He's outgrowing the OLB/Jack position in the 3-4, but is too small to play the DE position. Classic tweener in the 3-4. Bama and UGA won't take him for this reason.

4-3 teams, such as UT and AU, would and should gladly take him. He's a heck of a player.

Tis true, too small for a 3-4 DE but would fit just fine in an orange and white uniform.

No, I believe I just forgot to paste the paragraph above. IIRC the author noted that he was going to decide between UGA and Bama, but things have opened up again. Then he asked besides UGA and Bama, which schools are recruiting his the hardest? Then he responded with OSU, Clemson, Auburn and UT.

My fault for the misinformation. Should have included that to avoid any confusion.

What's so ridiculous about what I said. He'll likely play around 275 lbs in college, which makes him a tweener in the 3-4 unless he's a rare athlete. On the other hand, his size is a great fit in the 4-3.

The non-commitable offers were not made up by Bama and UGA fans. They were widely talked about by paysites. I'm pretty sure he would be a take for any 4-3 team.

yep well said.. he will be a good player in a 4-3 defense. it stinks he just isn't a good fit for the 3-4.. very talented player.

UK
Alabama
OSU
Tennessee

And I know OSU is full, and Bama and UGA are looking elsewhere. His 247 has him "warm to SCar (not in his "top 5") and us.

Has he visited? 247 does not show he has. Would not hurt my feelings a bit to get him. Only 1 DE spot left. Hendrix, Williams, and Sawyer. Who wants to step up and take it!!!

good catch, but what i find confusing is his crystal ball predictions. usually once someone predicts a recruit to a school, that school is usually listed as "warm". his predictions are 60% to Auburn, but they are listed as "cool"

That is what I am thinking as well. Coaches had to say something to explain not offering the kid much, much earlier. Especially with him here for the spring game. I think we are missing or the coaches don't feel good about some of the DTs we are waiting on and this was a late play to try and get in on another option. I doubt we end up a serious contender for him. Early offers to top rated kids mean something.

DE and DT are 2 different positions. This guy is very high on UTs board. He just isn't that interested. His film is sick.

After taking a step back recently to reset his recruiting, 2014 four-star defensive end Dante Sawyer of Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett thinks he might be approaching a decision date.



Dante Sawyer is nearing a decision.
"I'm keeping quiet," Sawyer said on Monday. "I'm not really going anywhere or doing anything, but I'll commit soon, just to get it over with."

Sawyer said four schools remain on his radar, South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. However, he said no school holds the lead.
