'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

The only thing that gets me with Lambert is all of the 'justified anger' where he jumped on Vol fans about the VFL phrase while he was secretly meeting with Auburn coaches. I hope he comes to UT, we could use the help. But Davonte has handled this process poorly. That being said, to all of the moron's on twitter, your existence there does nothing to help and only hurts in recruiting. Pestering the hell out of a recruit for him to tell you the same thing over and over again, or telling him to love UT or leave it is not the way to go here. Let the coaches do their job, and if Auburn getting to play by a different set of rules wins out, then so be it. We still have a great recruiting class. One guy will not set us back 2 -3 years regardless of what overexaggerating knuckleheads on this site may suggest. So let's enjoy what we have coming our way and hope Davonte wants to be a part of it.

Wow!

Sounds like an apology is in order to those posters you hammered for saying exactly the same thing last week!

following up on what lambert told me [callahan] last night via text message, he said he has not yet made a final decision between tennessee and auburn. He said he's going to continue talking it over with his parents over the next couple of days, and it's not going to be easy. He's still planning to sign wednesday.

Tennessee apparently did a good job on its in-home visit with him saturday, selling him on his chance to earn early playing time for the vols. He believes ut's roster and depth chart are more favorable to him than auburn's. But he has known auburn defensive line coach rodney garner for a long time — garner recruited him out of high school when he was at georgia — and he's impressed by the tigers' success this season under coach gus malzahn. Lambert said his in-home visit with auburn on friday also was a good one.

At this point, just reading the tea leaves, i think tennessee might have an ever-so-slight edge, just based on the vols' depth chart and his chance to make an immediate impact on their defensive line. But it sounds like ut and auburn might have to sweat this one out a bit longer.

Thanks UTVoleinEx :hi:

No problemo. I find it a bit interesting that between last night and today, it appears that Lambert is talking to the 247 reporters and not the VQ guys. Don't know if that means anything, but I got the distinct impression that the communication has been there for 247 but not VQ.

Well, being as though you guess the worst all the time, it doesn't mean you get to beat your chest the one time you may happen to be right(still a big maybe at this point). Not to mention, when/if I apologize it's sincere, not because someone tells me to. By asking for it, it makes me feel that you aren't entitled to an apology. And I also can't stand people who dishonestly attempt to put words in other people's mouths. And I really can't stand people who pathetically group themselves with other people thinking it makes their comments more justified. It screams of weakness. So hopefully I've addressed your concerns in a manner I hope you can understand. And try not to 'bruin' any more threads in the future.(like the Derek Barnett one where you tried the same nonsense)

He's not talking to Auburn Rivals either. Guess he likes 247 better.

I find alot of that 247 article hard to believe. It says they exchanges text but then they drew a heck of alot of info from that text. I doubt he shared that much info last night via text with them.

He talked to kipp Adams today in follow up to last nights text. He isn't talking to any teams sites only to kipp who has no team affiliation and I think kipp has covered him for a while

Sunday night he had his decision made. Monday night he doesn't?
Fort and Callahan think vol but nothing would surprise them.
Last they heard he was a vol but has gone silent after the in-homes
UT visit went well but so did Auburn's

Just when you think It may be settled for the good guys and it's semi-safe relax, a new update comes out to change things up

@rivalsmike: 95% “@VolRumorMill: @rivalsmike Percentage Lambert sticks with the Vols on Wednesday? Not going to hold you to it.”

From Mike Farrell of Rivals

I read that report to just be a follow up on his Sunday text they exchanged.

That's what is says at the first of the report

Kipp Adams is a UGA guy when he was reporting for Rivals and ESPN. But to your point, he is not affiliated with Auburn or UT.

He would be making a huge mistake if he ends up at Auburn with less playing time. JUCO's have to have playing time to make it to the NFL. UT is the perfect scenario for him but he has probably swallowed some of Garner's BS.

I told people that Gabe Wright was toying with UT a month before signing day. Most people do not realize the media coverage that Auburn gets in the middle of Georgia. Much more than UT. Lambert saying that he has a decision to make when he is already committed to UT means that his heart is elsewhere.

My question is, who is the backup plan here?

Huertolo would have been the backup plan if enough notice was given. If the staff really does still expect him to sign its too late to make a run at him IMO if lambert has lied to the staff

The motto in Alabama which holds true for Bama and AU is "if you ain't cheatin, you ain't tryin! They both try real hard IMHO!

Honestly life goes on with or without Lambert. If he wants to be at barn... so be it. This class is too special to sweat about this guy. Stay on the ship or gtfo imo. We'll get someone else... don't you worry.
