'14 JUCO TX WR Kameel Jackson (UT walk-on)

Off the wall question...did Kameel take an OV in the fall last year? I think he did, but wanting confirmation.

Yep, heard Azzani interviewed this morning and you can tell he is VERY pleased and confident with this group. The depth allows them to groom the young players and work them in, as opposed to forcing them into action unprepared. He said North was asked to do way too much last year, but will be better for it this year. Expect Malone to be a lot like Hunter his freshman year. They'll have some plays scripted for him based on his athletic ability.
And you think a player like Drae Bowles is all but forgotten on this roster. Wouldn't be surprised if he kicks it in to gear if healthy. UT should be able to stretch the D and wear out DBs opening up some big plays. With that depth I'd be running at least one WR deep on every play, shuttling in fresh legs to do the same until the DB just gives out.

I think he was probably referring to 110m hurdles.

110m hurdles is a track and field event, which he probably ran if he competed in high school. Even if he didn't compete, they are an intense workout!

Who the heck runs 110 yards instead of 100 yards or 120 yards? If you're going to run the length of one end zone, you might as well run both.
We ran 110s in high school for football conditioning in the offseason. A lof of friends I knew at other schools did the same. I'm 90% sure I've seen pics or tweets of the vols doing the same this offseason.

They're usually ran with a time limit that varies by position. Maybe 16 or 18 seconds for big fellows and less for skill positions. If somebody doesn't finish in time, the 110 counts for no one.

16 110s and they have to be under a certain time (based on your position group) or they don't count. Once you cross the line to finish one, you'll only have like 30 seconds or something before you have to start the next one.

Another pretty common conditioning test is a series of suicide-type runs, 300 yards each.
1. 25 yards and back, 6 times
2. 50 yards and back, 3 times
3. 10 - 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 -50 -40 - 30 - 20 - 10, 1 time

All of them under a certain time based on your position group... I think DBs/WRs would be like 52 seconds or something... and you have 1 minutes break before starting the next one.

Shaw Clowney Quarles Ellington.

I guess technically Davis is better than Ellington, so 4 of their top 5.

USCe returns one of the best OLs in the SEC to go along with Davis with and Wilds. Yeah they lost Ellington, but they return Damiere Byrd, Shaq Roland, and Pharoh Cooper. And knowing Spurrier's track record with QBs, Thompson will be playing good ball.

They lost their horses on the DL for sure. JT Surrat will have to anchor their DL on the interior. Skai Moore is gonna be a beast. I expect him to thrive under Lorenzo Ward. He's twice the playmaker Eric Norwood was. They also return most, if not all, of their secondary.

USCe is my pick for the East this year.

And back to Kameel, I'm eager to hear the initial reports on him. Swain was really high on the kid. I also think it's kind of ironic that the staff went to his Juco to evaluate and recruit him. The staff falls in love with Jonathan Johnson and he signs.

Now Johnson is going into year 2 and has a pretty decent role in the slot. Kameel won't get here until August and he's walking on. Just kinda weird how it all played out. Gotta respect Kameel though.

Hope he leaves his own mark at WRU :salute:

Their secondary was a benefactor of their DL. I don't disagree they're the East favorite, but their team last year is better than the one this year on paper, IMO.

Shaw and Clowney are the best in school history at their positions. There will be a drop-off.
