And they are no good anyway, anybody with football IQ can see that the only reason we are recruiting them are there name and i rather have a DT than a LB or DB.
Seems to me that Coach Strip had a plan when he came to UT, and that plan got amended. Same scheme, just going up a size in personnel.
And its not like they havent had big guys before. In 2010-11 they had Wolfe and Hughes, both in the 300-lbs. range. In 2012 they were using a couple of 270ish-lbs, guys for the most part.
Thing is, aint nobody ever seen anything like Daniel McCullers. And now that Coach Strip has had his greedy paws on his tape and they see just how fast the kids can move these days. I commented earlier in this thread about just how nimble this kid is for a guy that size. Pretty much the same thing that happens to other teams when they have to deal with Big Dan.
Im thinking that they arent confident they can flip Lamlin, so theyre going after some frosh (for now).
Not sold on this guy yet.
Me either. I've just never been huge on prospects from KY for whatever reason. Fugate rushed for 3k yards.. 3k and he doesn't even play offense here. Not saying that's the measuring stick, I'm just not that impressed with him given other guys we are in on. I'd take the other 4 that we have been talking about before Elam any day.
Maybe that is the plan with Elam. Maybe that is why they waited till now to offer. Humphreys, Barnett, Lambert, Williams, and Lamin all have mentioned deciding in Aug. A late July offer to Elam allows the staff to make it look like they came in before the others announce and are not just offering him in case they miss on others. UT will have to spend a little time recruiting Matt before he would pick them. Good chance all those I mentioned announcing in Aug do so and the UT coaches then know where they stand. If they miss on several of them they just continue to go after Elam. If they get 2-3 of their targets they could just say we are all full and the Elam talk is done. JMO

Do you remember our numbers at LB last year?

Fugate was a soft blocker, Bart took his spot fair and square.
I don't know about Fugate being a soft blocker, but I do think Bart won the position with his good play on the field. Disappointed as I was to never see Fugate running the ball, I hope that his athleticism will become an asset to the team this year. The LB corps is thin and we really need Fugate and a few others to take their play to a higher level.
I don't think they were the best. Still can't agree with moving Fugate. It had more to do with him making simple rookie mistakes at UGA than it did adding to LB depth IMO. He got in Dooley's doghouse and Dooley decided to make him a scout team LB instead of starting H-back. Kinda like he made Teague the leagues worst DB instead of leaving him as a competent WR. Or kinda like he moved Neal to WR instead of just plugging in the freshman Arnett. And if he never moved Teague from WR the hole he attempted to fill with Neal would never have been there.
