So ur saying that it is possible that JJ impressed our staff a lot but hurd couldn't of made them worry about his future

All I've heard so far is how Hurd has impressed with his quick feet, speed and ability to "make himself small" in some of the off season drills. I suppose it's possible they have concerns with his shoulder injury at this point but I doubt it. Maybe once spring practice and contact starts, but I doubt right now. I believe they're going after Scott to add quality depth to a poor depth chart.

Williams would be a nice add. Scott would be a great add. Hurd and Scott with Paulk in the wings getting healthy is the recipe for success.

Could end up wrong, but I don't see Williams backing away from LSU. We have been down this path so many times with kids from LA, MS and AL. If the big schools offer for a position they want they generally always take it. LSU's depth chart opened up for Williams to be a RB.

The Carolinas, GA, VA are fertile recruiting grounds for us because the only three teams to compete against us are Stevie-come-lately USCe that will return to mediocre when he retires as well as Dabo's and Richt's underperformers at Clemson and UGA. Scott knows this and I hope it translates into his signing where he will get the ball as a freshman.

SOS downed a case of banquet beer and showed up at the Scott's house looking like this

SC247:
Friday morning update - I'm told things went very well on the in home visit. Scott had questions about returning offensive linemen, opportunity for early playing time and about how much longer Spurrier planned to continue coaching. I'm told Spurrier did a nice job of addressing each issue and Scott seemed satisfied with the answers. The visit was described by one source as going "as well as it could have."

Scott will now take the weekend to make his final decision and will announce on Monday. If we hear more to pass on we will.

Latest per SC rivals:
I was told this morning that the feel on the South Carolina side was that the in-home visit with Adams/Sands/Spurrier and Scott's family went very well last night. A variety of topics were covered and Scott and his parents seemed to come away feeling very good about those things as far as USC is concerned.

We've mentioned before that the two biggest concerns Scott has had, or the two biggest things that Tennessee has used against South Carolina has been Steve Spurrier's age and the issue of playing time. I have reason to believe that Scott feels better about both of those topics after last night's meeting. It's been outlined to Scott during his process and reiterated as well during the meeting that Spurrier has no plans to retire and also that he has a chance to play as a true freshman if he puts in the work.

I was also told that Scott's best friend, Gamecock sophomore Pharoh Cooper, plans on reaching out to him today.

On the Tennessee side, the Vols also felt it went well but I heard came away from that meeting unsure of Scott's plans. Also reading some tea leaves: RB coach Robert Gillespie met with LSU RB commit Darrell Williams on Thursday and he's scheduled to take an official visit to Knoxville this weekend. Scott is aware of that situation and the fact that Williams is being brought in for a visit before he announces.

I will say that neither side seems to have a firm grip on what Scott is absolutely going to do on Monday. I will say USC seems more confident now and I do think based on what I'm hearing that South Carolina's chances went up after last night, as a good job was done answering Scott's questions.

Scott is a differnt type of back than Lane, Hurd or Davis/Wilde. Hurd and Davis have the speed to break the long runs but Scott can do it with one cut or from jet sweep. He made a few runs on tape that were pure speed. A team always has to find a place for homerun guys.

I have been very confident here but with this report along with williams coming this weekend I am losing that warm and fuzzy feeling

Wouldn't we be cool with Williams coming on an official no matter the status of Scott? Not saying it doesn't mean anything, but idk if it HURTS us in any way.

Yup.. It's getting harder for me to believe that a top 5 team is gonna miss on the RB position. Especially when they basically have had one target all year. Would be nice to get him though

Odd statement for two guys who are supposedly best friends. You'd think they'd be in regular contact and Cooper wouldn't have to 'reach out'.

This friendship with teammates seems to get played up all the time in recruiting though.

Fair point.

I don't know why but I just feel like he's going to stick with the team that's been recruiting him the longest. Carolina kids have carolina loyalty.

Pretty much no one knows, its a toss up, and the young man will change his mind about 1,000 timew between now and monday morning. He would be the missing dynamic to our offense. I pray we get him.

UT has lead for a couple months now. Some homer USC writers say they helped their chances with the in home and all of a sudden UT isn't going to sign Scott? hahaha

If they helped their chances so much why didn't they say "USC now leads"? Because they don't.

Williams is coming in for an OV because he's had one scheduled for awhile now, he's clearly interested and this staff doesn't stop recruiting until the paperwork is signed.

I'm still waiting for the coach that says, "You're right, I'm old. I may retire halfway through your career, but that's neither here nor there."

Likewise, Alvin Kamara had a great chance to start and receive playing time at Alabama this year.

Christian Hackenburg was going to play 3-4 years, all under Bill O'Brien.

Andrew Jelks was another step in James Franklin's long term process and vision at Vanderbilt.

Spurrier may honestly retire next season, but he wouldn't consider even dangling that in front of a big time prospect. I can't really even recall an in-home visit where all of the prospects' doubts weren't cleared.

Still regional. I didn't say NC on purpose. "The Carolinas".

I haven't felt good about Scott all along.
