And RB..and QB..and DL..and CB.

Good Lord what was dooley doing with his life when he was here?

Bamboo doesn't plant itself...and when you're closing the deal after doing the devil's business,in one of those fabulous AC stalls,it should be Dooley's face you see as you roll those custom dispensers :naughty:

Is the announcement streaming anywhere?

Go to the "Hot Recruiting News thread" that is stickied at the top. Someone bumped it earlier with the link for the announcement...almost gave me a heart attack as I was worried Hendrix decommitted.

True, but it's only fair to compare them by the "on paper" standard at this point. Until Malone or Pearson proves it on the field, they have potential to be overrated.

I just made an argument against my stance on the LBs though. If we stick to what this class looks like on paper compared to what the 2011 class looked like on paper... this class dominates.

True. You never know until they show up and produce. I just like the quality of depth in this class far more than any of those Dooley classes. Plus some of his higher rated guys tended to be huge question marks from the get go like Borque and Phillips that I just mentioned. They really didnt want to be at Tennessee.

Lol! How can you seriously tell that from that pic? The hats are so far away. I do like the bold power T hat that he chose though.

In my original post, I said it could have been the angle of the picture. I can 100% tell that the UF and USCe hats have not been worn. I buy a lot of hats, and hat the "corners" as I call them, sticking out. As for the UT hat, it's angle give me the worst view of the corners, out of the three, and the black doesnt help either. But, from what I can see, it does appear to have been worn. The post you quoted, was in response to a comment someone made about the sticker missing...

I said it too at the time. That class in general I felt was a lot worse than it appeared on paper. A lot of the team needs were not even close to being filled. They signed something like 11 or 12 4-stars but at least half of those guys were at best borderline 3/4 stars guys. And then you had those with some serious off-field / character issues who Tennessee took out of desperation (Borque, Phillips, etc..).

To add to that a big risk in Bonner... Sentimore as well. It's like he was going for class rankings instead of our needs. Just terrible all around

Exactly. That was 1/3rd of his 4-stars in that class right there. All huge risks, with either known attitude problems going in or other off-field issues. It's no surprise none of them lasted more than a year.

IMO, Sentimore was a disappointment during his 1-year at UT. Why he left for the NFL after his Jr. year is a mystery to me because he was nowhere near ready.

Wherever we finish in class rankings will be really impressive considering our record. I've been saying top 6 class. I'm hoping we cam finish at least sixth, if not, no big whoop. It'll be top 10

Yeah his junior year was average at best. He left because like I said he was one of those kids with attitude / off field issues who really didnt want to be at UT, he just wanted to get the NFL as quick as possible. I dont even think he bothered to go to class. I'm pretty sure I remember people saying he never planned on playing more than 1 year and wouldnt have been eligible had they made a bowl game that year.

I'm not worried about 247's ratings, especially those stupid consensus ratings. You have one service who has a bad rating on a guy and no matter what the other 10 services think a guy plummets in 247's "consensus" rankings.

I also like the quality of depth Tennessee has in this class better than what FSU and Auburn have right now. They might have one or two more higher end elite guys but Tennessee has the quality depth in this class that keeps them in the elite category IMO.

My opinion, right now on paper, Bama and TAMU have elite classes with LSU getting close. I think OSU's class is slightly overrated. If we land AJ, then I think there's an arguement that we have an elite class, but right now, it's just a very good class. Game changers are what truly make a class elite (IMO). But I also agree with your arguement that depth goes into having an elite class. I think an elite class includes depth with a certain number of game changing players. AJ would be the tipping point for us. Again, IMO.

I cant argue with a lot of that. I agree on OSU's class being overrated. It's a solid 5-10 type class and easily the best in their crappy league, but as usual their ranking is so high because as always Ohio prospects tend to be overhyped on a national level.

Plenty of "game changers" in this class. Hurd and Malone are elite. Hendrix, Helm, Bates, Bryant, Gaulden and TKjr are others who are elite at their position or "game changers".

Does class ranking mean anything if we fill depth and needs....NO

YES. If we land a high ranked class, kids in the next class take notice that we are turning the program around. In several interviews with recruits, they bring up our current high ranked class. Higher ranked class = better recruiting next year.

Looking at 247, I've been saying we'd finish around 10th for a while (just based on our average player rating compared to previous years)
