We're not done yet, this staff continues to amaze me on they're closing ability. I'll just bet we get another big commit on signing day, or before. Even if we don't, we've addressed many of our weaknesses already. Go Butch....GBO!!!

Whoever “X” is on Tony Basilio’s blog makes a compelling argument for the significance of Scott’s commitment (see The Tony Basilio Show). He points out that Scott is a “composite 4 star prospect” whom ESPN ranks as the 109th best prospect nationally and the 11th best running back. He concludes that Scott’s commitment was significant for a number of reasons, first as a means of demonstrating continued inroads on recruiting within North Carolina. He speculates that “Scott will have every bit of the impact on the 2014 season as North had on the 2013 season.... if not a bigger impact.” I don’t know if he is correct on the following observation or not, but “X” also says that this was the first major recruiting victory by Tennessee in head-to-head battle with the Chicken Nation in quite some time, a coup which was magnified by the fact that Scott was “the #1 running back on South Carolina's board,” had been committed to them for a long time and we landed him at the eleventh hour of recruiting season. Additionally, Scott had a serious list of suitors, with offers from Florida, Oregon, Ohio State, Florida State and South Carolina among others. In projecting Scott’s immediate impact, “X” notes that “Scott and Hurd have skill sets which complement each other . . . [and the] speed upgrade these kids bring should be obvious before the first quarter of the Utah State game. . . . Scott's profile says he runs a 4.5 forty dash but in watching his film he sure looks faster.”

Just watched DS's senior film.

Zoinks, jinkies, and all that other stuff. This fella's legit, y'all.......and he's coming to ROCKY TOP!!!!

uh...I would probably rate this class an A+ anyways...2 5* and 16 4*...I think that speaks for itself!

But he's ranked 26 spots above you...gotta go with #1's grade :compute:

SIAP Scott Interview after commitment.. Wearing Power T hat

I mean ... I'm stoked about his talent coming here. I mean ... it's gonna be great watching him here. I mean ... I'm sorry, I had to point out the fact he said I mean about a thousand times during the interview lol.

Seriously though, welcome aboard "Great Scott"! Glad to have you!

Scott's profile says he runs a 4.5 forty dash but in watching his film he sure looks faster.”

Always hard to tell about speed from the highlight videos because you never know how fast the defense is that he's running against. Does he run track and if so, what's his best 100M time? As he didn't clearly run away from everyone consistently, I'd guess 4.5 or slightly slower, but if those DB's are legit fast as well then DS is faster than a 4.5.

What the video clearly shows however is his vision and that he doesn't slow down when changing directions. Both of those qualities are more important for a college RB than straight ahead 40 times IMHO.

In his interview, he looks very young as if he's got alot of growing / maturing ahead of him?

Wasn't aware that Scott was committed to the peeps.

That's the LaSean McCoy in him that some of us have been talking about. If you have that you don't have to have Chris Johnson type straight ahead speed because the defenders are off balance when you blow by them and they cannot recover quickly enough.

Pumped about this one.

Scott has very good feet and balance. He moves well side to side, he can freeze defenders in the open field, and he has the speed to get to the perimeter as well.

One of the real strengths of his is catching the ball out of the backfield. He can be a real weapon on screen plays, motion out of the backfield, and possibly in the slot at times.

The offense UT runs fits Scott's skillset very well. He is more of a finesse type of a back and a back who excels in space. He needs to add weight, run better behind his pads, and become a better runner after initial contact, but he has plenty to like.

one thing that hasn't been mentioned is that he uses his blockers well. He demonstrates a lot of patience, which is critical on all of those draw runs in his highlights...

I think Rajion Neal would have been much better with these traits.

I googled for his 40 time and found some reports of closer to 4.4 (4.41), but I guess we'll have to wait and see how he looks on the field in Knoxville. Even if he runs at 4.5, with moves like that, he's dangerous. I've seen sub-4.4 times reported for Hurd. What a combo. And Paulk looks like a feature back waiting to happen too! Can't wait to see how things play out this fall!
