This week, the nation’s No. 120 overall prospect expects to see coaches from all three of his finalist.

“Tennessee with coach Butch Jones and (running backs) coach (Robert) Gillespie are coming Wednesday,” Scott said. “Coach Steve Spurrier is coming on Thursday with (defensive line) coach (Deke) Adams and (running backs) coach (Everett) Sands. Florida I think is coming on Friday. I know (defensive line) coach (Brad) Lawing is coming but I’m not sure if the head coach is coming or not yet.”

How do things stand going into his decision in a week?

“South Carolina and Tennessee have recruited me the longest and hardest so they are on top,” Scott said. “Florida is number three. But I just got home and still need to think about it and talk about it with my dad.”


The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder broke down what he likes about the Gamecocks and Volunteers as well.

South Carolina - “I know them well and they offered me after my sophomore year. I’m comfortable with everyone there and all of the people there.”

Tennessee - “They really picked up under the new staff. I’m close to the staff. I really like coach Butch Jones and coach Gillespie. I feel like I can play early wherever I go.”

Scott will announce his college choice next Monday at 3:15 p.m. at Havelock High School.

"As a senior, Scott rushed for 2,148 yards and 25 touchdowns helping Havelock to a state title. In his high school career, Scott rushed for 6,145 yards with a 9.4 yards per carry on 652 carries with 87 touchdowns."

IF, we land this kid.... I know Thig deserves a raise, but Coach G does as well. 3 very good RBs in 1 class and we are in on some good ones also in the '15 class.

That part scares me a little.

I think we have a slight lead but I have no idea. Usually when VQ says something about UT having the momentum it's a done deal though.

Only thing concerns me is the commitment lists for each school. I mentioned it before that I think seeing (2) other RBs in the class for UT could hurt us when the final decision is made. I have no doubt usce will point to it and make sure Derrell knows he could be one of three RBs for UT or the ONLY RB taken for the cocks in 2014. IMO it plays into the decision quite a bit in the end.

On the flip side UT can point to the depth chart already on USCjr's campus being much deeper and more talented than what UT has. UT has Senior RB Marlin Lane, that's it. And he's been mostly 2nd string his entire career. Plus Paulk is coming off knee surgery and Hurd coming off shoulder surgery. If I'm Scott I look at all of that and think, "hmmm, I could play significant snaps THIS fall at UT and I would likely redshirt at USCjr because they have arguably the SEC's best RB in Mike Davis and other good RB's waiting behind him."

gator99 gets blasted because the first couple years of the Dooley era he would hang out in the recruiting forum and troll like it was his job. He can take his info somewhere else, IMO.

If UF is actually a factor with Scott, he has done a really good job so far in not showing his interest. They are clearly the #3 team and won't be a big factor a week from today, IMO, based on all of the early articles/interviews.

Sucks for Paulk (if Scott jumps on board) but i hope he realizes this can be a blessing for him to not be rushed into playing before fully healed. He needs minimal wear on that knee before entering into action and a full year removed from Hurd and Scott means he would definitely have a year that he was the only Junior/Senior RB on the team if he sticks it out.

99gator is the worst kind of troll... because he's subtle. He fools most people into thinking he's a "reasonable" opposing fan when over time he shows a clearly condescending attitude.

He's smart.... you're dumb. The Gators are royalty... The Vols are well treated houseservants.

No one can accuse me of not disagreeing with sunshine of late... I just have a long history with the guy. I've watched the character of his posts.
