That's a strange comment: according to this thread, UT's depth chart is even thinner than USC's - at least that's what the Vol staff is reportedly telling Derrell. But Scott hasn't committed to anyone yet, especially to UT who y'all say is the decided leader for him.

It could just be it's because he's not ready to commit to anyone yet.....

Or he has an announcement date set up. Clown.

So you think Scott is a silent commit, Ron?

I do. Anything could happen and he could sign with USC or anyone else for that matter but when Fortenberry says, "the vols are in very good shape" that's means he's told the staff he's going to be a Vol. VQ has said UT had the momentum for awhile now but "very good shape" is new. My guess is Scott talked to the coaches after his UF OV and gave them the verbal. JMO

I saw where Paul said that too. We just have to weather the Spurrier visit. Would love him and Evans to finish off this class.

Makes sense now that I think about it.

The exact second that Scott commits Monday (knock on wood), VQ will have his commitment story and instant analysis articles already written and uploaded on to the front page of VQ lol

I'll text OBC and see if he wants to meet me for drinks and a round of golf tomorrow, accidentally have a few too many. Couldn't hurt to try. Somebody get me his number, and who's willing to bet he's got one of those Jitterbug phones?

I agree but that doesn't mean they know he is a silent that is just good professionalism.

Having the story written is their job. USCe guys should have one written as well just in case

So, at UT in 2014, Scott would join:

Sr. Lane (4*)
RS-Jr. Pickett (3*)
RS-So. Hill (3*)
Fr. Hurd (5*)
Fr. Paulk (3*)

At USC, he'd join:

Jr. Davis (4*)
RS-Jr. Wilds (3*)
RS-Jr. Carson (3*)
RS-Fr. Williams (4*)

That means that in 2015, UT's roster would look like:

RS-Sr. Pickett (3*)
RS-Jr. Hill (3*)
So. Hurd (5*)
So. Paulk (3*)
So. Scott (4*)

In 2015, USC's roster would look like:

RS-Sr. Wilds (3*)
RS-Sr. Carson (3*)
RS-So. Williams (4*)
So. Scott (4*)

And the Vol coaches are showing this to Scott on their visits with him?

No, we showed him a picture of the USCe SEC & NC Trophy Case.

Four-star RB Derrell Scott (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) - Tennessee ... The Volunteers' lead isn't a big one, but I do believe that's where he'd be headed if he signed today.

SC - Davis (203 carries) and Wilds (43 carries) have started and wilds will be there for 2 more years. Carson isn't quitting football...only baseball last i heard. He had 61 carries last year. Smith is not moving to DB imo since SC is about to land Lammons, possibly Green, and recently picked up DJ Smith.
SC staff is very high on David Williams as well.

TN has only Lane returning who has gotten significant carries. He had 101 carries last year.
We rode Neal all year last year. (215 carries)

So what TN is telling Scott is that we have 1 guy returning who has toted the rock. SC is returning 3.

J. Smith is moving to CB. He said it's all about getting on the field and he has a better shot competing with true freshman at CB than he does at RB. Supposedly he was doing well in the fall before moving to RB.

Still, no question TN has a much better story to tell at RB and it sounds like Scott is sold.
