'14 OH TE/DE Ethan Wolf (UT Commit 4/10/13)

For those of you saying he’d be a great left tackle, what evidence are you using to support this? Just a feeling? Film study?

He also uses his hands very well and a good blocking TE. He has the potential to be good on the OL, I could definitely see it. Definitely a good football player to have.

I guess when I look at him I see a natural hands-catcher who can snow-plow CBs. Reminds me very much of current Viking Kyle Rudolph. But I’ve been baffled by their offense this year so I don’t really want to act like I have a clue what they are doing.

I don't think he runs as well as Rudolph, but Wolf definitely has great hands.

*Edit - I also think our current lack of depth, as well as his ability to catch the ball, keeps him at TE for at least two years if not his whole career.

I think that's what ends up happening with him.

He certainly has tackle qualities, but I dont think they can afford to move him there, at least not right away. They need way too much immediate help at TE to move either him or Helm. This offense needs 2 capable TE's to be fully effective like it was at Cincy. Both of them will probably play a ton next year and be the Top 2 TE's on the roster.

I agree on him playing TE next year. Do you think he could transition to offensive tackle during the offseason between his FR and SO year?

They will probably have too many OL recruits by then to need him to switch over.

Woody Quinn is a big dude. I have seen him roaming the sidelines during the games. Ive been wondering why I haven't seen him in there on at least blocking downs. Then I remember the little time he got at the end of the Austin Peay game, and he got mauled 6 straight plays by an DE that was like 5'11 210 lbs. I mean bull-rushed and ran over by a guy 50 lbs his lighter.

I miss Rivera.... Dude was vastly under appreciated during his time here.

In three years he became the third all-time leader in receptions for a TE at UT, and most all-time in receiving yards for TE. Also the only Tennessee TE to amass over 1,000 yards in a career.

Utilized? Yes. Appreciated? Not really.

Oddly enough, pretty much all the TE records for Tennessee start around 2001.

I felt that TE had been a vastly underutilized position for the Vols for years, nearly nonexistent during the 90's. Interesting enough, it was the success of Frank Wychek and the Titans in the late 90's and early 00's that promoted Fulmer and staff to make a visit to Nashville to take in a few tips.
