IMO, Connor Humphreys may have taken Poona's spot.
I think that Barnett has filled a spot for a DT.That could be possible but Humphreys could still play DE and since we don't have any DT's committed, we could end up taking both. Unless Barnett has already filled a spot at DT. We still have Lambert, Chris Williams, and Lamin in our sights as well.
We have a real chance to land Lamin if we get the last OV. He might be the best true DT on the board right now.I think that Barnett has filled a spot for a DT.
I also believe that most of the DT recruits that we will be going after will be listed as DE on Rivals, 247 (albeit a large DE, like a Jason Carr), and Humphreys seems to fit that bill.
Due to Couch and McCullers leaving after this year, it would make sense that the coaches want a certain number of HS and Juco DTs as well.
I won't disagree with that. However I feel better about Lambert (I do think he projects as a DT).We have a real chance to land Lamin if we get the last OV. He might be the best true DT on the board right now.
Hilton Head (S.C.) four-star defensive tackle Poona Ford is considering going to Tennessee this weekend for their big recruiting day, but Im told he has not make a firm decision on whether to make the trip. What he ultimately decides could be telling, as there have been signs lately that the Vols may have lost momentum with the 6-foot, 285 pounder.

I think they'd take just about any defensive lineman they've offered if they wanted to jump on board right now. That may not be the case a month from now but right now they would considering the need and only having 1 total DL commit (Henderson) at this point.
The only one the staff will hold a spot for going into the season and early next year would be Hendrix.
I honestly believe Hendrix is a silent, especially since we have confirmation that a lot of these commitments have been strategically announced and had been silents for some time. The question is when will Butch tell him to go public?

I think some kids could be/have been silent commitments. I don't know that I buy that CBJ is telling them when to go public. Cortez was supposed to announce on Aug 2nd and said he just could not wait. I doubt CBJ called him this morning and told him he needed him to go public today. The kid made the decision, not our coaching staff.
