Ericvol, I would look to move to Lexington. Just outside of Columbia. Plus lexington county is cheaper than richland county tax wise.

Ericvol, what this guy said. I live in Lexington and have a 3 and 4 yr old. Nice town with plenty to do. Plus it's only a 10 to 15 min ride to the city (Columbia). What kind of price range are you looking at if you don't mind me asking. If I knew that I could tell you a good place to look

In Tennesesse for 20 years, then Irmo SC (right outside Columbia for 10 years.) Really enjoyed my time there. Williams Brice is no Neyland, but Columbia is a great place - raised two girls there. You'll want to be in School district 1 (Lexington) or 5 (Irmo/Dutch Fork). Good luck!

Not bad at all - pit the USC folks against Clemson and they'll leave you alone!

I know some USC fans.... Pitifully cocky for a team that always sucked, up until 4 years ago.

They swear Tennessee has fallen beyond recovery, and they have taken our place. I just sit and listen... Just like a Kung-fu master getting taunted right before he starts throwing fools against walls.

Sorry Eric for the delay. Unless you will live in old school Columbia (Shandon area, Columbia CC, etc) I think Lexington is a great option. Spring Valley area is also good depending on where you are but that Two Notch traffic is brutal

Well... Maybe you'll find some bad places while looking for that crack your smoking, but it's not a dump. It is a city and there are business around, but there are also great places to live and a great night life. Plus your an hour from the beach and 2 1/2 hours from the mountains.

Columbia isn't bad at all, aside from the obnoxious Cocks (esp the frat guys) running around. A lot of good looking women, the weather is nice, and the area is overall pretty decent. Some good downtown spots. It's no Knoxville, but it's better than a lot of places I've been. I live right near the Shandon/Rosewood area... and as someone else mentioned, stay away from Two Notch... some nice things there, but the traffic is a nightmare.

What beach is an hour from Columbia? 2+ hours from charleston and 3+ hours from Myrtle Beach area.

This is what kills me about other fan bases right now, thinking we will never be back because we've been down 5 years. People said the same about bamer. The were down worse than us, only winning 3 games a year and were down like 8 years. Elite schools always come back, it's just a matter of getting the right coaches. Then look at people like South Carolina, they sucked for 100 years and finally became relevant for 4 years ( but we know its temporary). So why would we not be able to return to glory after being good 100 years and sucking for 5. If you have the money, facilities, history, and fan base, you will always come back when you get the right coaching staff! Can't wait, we will come back stronger than ever because of this down time.

I have a friend that's a huge Florida fan. I've been friends with him all my life so he will feta pass on being a gator fan. But he never talks smack. He just says, no point in running my mouth, cause its just a matter a of time before we could lose to y'all. He even admits we won't be down much longer.

Eric, I used to live in Columbia before I moved to Cali. I had some of the best years of my life there. It doesn't have the coastal beaches, but Lake Murry offers a lot in recreation. As for where to live, it depends on your lifestyle. If it's family oriented, the suburbs or bedroom communities are the best, places like Irmo, Chapin, Blythewood, etc. However, young, single professionals would probably prefer closer in, or the city itself. I have a lawyer friend who lives downtown. The Vista offers has some nice clubs and restuarants. I know there is a lot of hate, but some people like Columbia. I know a professor at UNC who said he rated Columbia a 9 out of 10 as compared of to his rating of 4 for Raleigh based on typical southern cities. and there are good looking women in Columbia, like everywhere.

:eek:lol: this happened to my dad one time. My mom still has an article talking about it. I'll have to dig deep, but I think I can find a mentioning of it in the Tampa Tribune archives from like 1979, LOL. Dude came into my dad's dojo acting bad bad, threatening him. Dad just stood there in his stance, dude made a move, one kick and dude was completely destroyed....completely destroyed. Random street punk didn't fair to well against the East Cleveland Navy Seal Commando War Vet. Sorry I'm ranting. But your post was funny as hell, yet had some merit to it. Very good way of putting it.

LOL, I hear ya man. I caught heck because I always have a Vols avi on my Facebook. I mean I guess I could put a pic of the wife and kids on there. I think our women should be glad....glad we don't put these little self made FLUFF glamour shots of ourselves. I've always wondered what guys got out of doing that.
