Dools 1st class we were #9, his 2nd class we were #13.

CBJ 1st class we were #21, his 2nd class I expect to be around #10-15.

He is just filling it up a lot quicker. The pub for the #1 class(while we have it) is great. It's just not going to hold.

I wouldn't be so quick to drop us that far. It becomes much easier to pull elite talent with our current class because they don't fill like they will be the only big Time player. See ole miss last year. I expect us to def finish top 10.

Dooley's first class benefited from what Kiffin had in place. CBJ's first class was a train wreck by Dooley.

People are too easily smitten. There will be people on here upset come February. The 3-8(ish) range rankings will be inconsequently different. This class will be an excellent class, even at a #7 or lower ranking.

How can you say CBJ's 1st class is 21st? Serious question.

I put in another thread if we didn't get another commit, we'd rank 12th on rivals with out any additions in last year's class with these commits. With some teams like Kentucky and Virginia and some other schools stealing some talent, I think we could finish about 10th on rivals with no more commits right now. JMO

We debated this long ago, but worth mentioning again for context. Kiffin left Dooley in great shape with that 1st class. Dooley deserves credit for holding it together and adding to it, but he can't get full credit for it. As we all witnessed not long ago, Dooley left CBJ in terrible shape. CBJ deserves much credit for landing that class in the top 25 and immediately building a legendary class #2.

I understand that it was a last minute class. It's still CBJ's class and the ranking was #21.

About as simple of an answer as I can give you.

Again, a complete mental lapse on my part. The Doc put me on pain pills and they've effed my brain completely up. I was thinking this was CBJ's first class and completely forgot about the one last year. My bad man....I mean well , LOL.

It still begs the question: Why the hell are we still talking about Dooley? So he left us in bad shape. Jones picked up the pieces and did the best he could. Who cares if the class was ranked #21 (whether you think it was CDDs or CBJs or LBJs)? Big deal. Move on. CBJ has already. He's killing this class.

Dwelling on the past will make you a bitter, old Cubs fan....

It matters going forward because Jones will have to live and die with Dooley players for a couple of years. DD's early recruiting left Jones an opportunity this fall. However much of the talent on this roster are either Sr's or Jr's with the potential of leaving early.

Dooley's recruiting declined and went to nothing last fall when he pretty much quit mid-season. I can see the things he did well... but also the things he did bad. He quit on the team and worse the program last fall.

He basically stopped recruiting when he saw the gig was up. That was pretty classless for a guy making the salary he was making.

I don't know how far we might drop but I do know that it's been a while since we have been ranked No. 1 in recruiting. CBJ and staff are relentless and I like it.

Agreed. But people on VN beat that horse to death. The evaluation process of the 2013 class is over. There's no new information to glean from it.

BTW, even with the #21 class in 2013, we still have mucho talent on this squad (see other threads for * number calculation comparisons with other schools). We're not deep at every position and we have a dearth of talent in a couple of skill positions. But if CBJ's offense and defense translate well to the SEC, we will surprise 1 or 2 teams this year.

No, just taught better to remain silent and perceived ignorant than ....

The wisest post all day. Many people on VN with 10,000 - 30,000 posts say nothing of consequence.

But I suppose it makes for good entertainment for the serial lurkers...

With current standings, who we have already committed and who is projected to commit we would be around 2457 points on rivals, which would have landed us in 8th place last year. Obviously rankings are going to change one way or another.

Remember, Rivals only does the top 20 players, I just checked their math and it comes out to exactly 20. So, anyone we add that is lower than the 20 we have committed now does nothing to our ranking; anyone we add that is higher than someone in our top 20 will give us a bump. Right now, 5.8 or higher is going to bump someone.

Regarding final class rankings, my guess is that UT will end up with at least one 5* (Hurd) and fourteen 4* signees (guessing that two existing 3* will get a bump, and UT will add the others.)

I believe that scenario would keep UT well within the Top-10.

Also, a few schools that are usually in the Top-15 may find themselves outside that perimeter this year as some of the remaining top-rated players choose other programs (e.g., Kentucky) than the typical recruiting powerhouses.

Be nice if Hurd would get the 5th *.
