Mom has wanted him to go to Vandy. She didn't go and help Jimmy sell Vandy. I take it as she's letting him make his own decision. By all accounts, that means he's a Vol.

Those accounts made me believe he was a vol if his mom gave her blessing. If that's true why go tonight?

Agreed thats possible but anytime a recruit sets foot on another campus it should never be applauded.
Who's applauding? Everyone has stated that it sucks that he ended up going, but that it's a bonus if his mom did in fact end up not going with him.

Anytime a recruit attends a campus without their parents it is 100% a good thing, especially when the parent lives ten minutes away. There is no other way to look at his mom's absence as anything other than a positive.

You're just looking for something to argue about. Which isn't a surprise.

Never underestimate Jimmy Franks people. The guy is an elite salesman.

Here is a story that makes me mad at a Tennessee fan.

Jimmy Franks started recruiting Station Camp a year ago and noticed that one teacher's room was decked out with a ton of UT pennants, pictures, etc.... Jimmy Franks asked the lady about why she had so much UT gear up. She said it was because her husband was a huge UT fan. Franks had the woman call her husband and talked to him. He asked him if he was a UT fan, to which the guy said yes and that he had season tickets to UT. Jimmy Franks told the UT fan that if he would take down the UT gear out of the room that he would trade season sideline passes with this "UT fan" in exchange for his UT season tickets. "The UT fan agreed to do it and now follows Vanderbilt football. This guy buys the UT season tickets and gives them to Jimmy Franks in exchange for the sideline passes and Jimmy Franks trashes the unused UT tickets. True story.

Because 3 friends were going? It's possible he has interest in Vandy, but mom not going is a plus.

Kid definitely has interest in Vandy. I don't have Franklinvol info, but I did coach this kid in travel baseball when he was 12 years old. Haven't spoken to him personally in a couple of years. I do, however, still coach some of his buddies and a one of them told me today that he likes Vandy a lot.

You are mistaken. The guy you speak of was no VOL fan. Nothing nor anybody could ever take my love from UT away from me. He was no fan. I grew up in K-Town and even though I now live hours away I wouldn't trade one second of UT football and basketball on TV that I get to see for season tickets to any other college.

If that story is even remotely true, that fan was never a "UT fan" to begin with. I would kill to have James Jimmy Franklin call me up and persuade my fan card.

That's the only way Vandy can get more fans, buy them.
There is no way that guy was a true Vol fan. If Franky offered me the same deal I would have taken the tickets, shoved them up his anchor down hole and Butch slapped him. Guy's a tool!

Agreed.

I know most here disagree and that's ok but I would have felt better if mom had gone with him tonight. Him going by himself tells me vandy is in serious consideration in the kids mind. If the mom had gone I would have looked at it more as the mom was measuring up vandy one more time.

VN the place where 100% goes to die a hard death.

Anybody got the specifics of the last visit of the kid mzterry drove to campus just before he commited? Was mom on that trip?
Where did I argue that a kid cannot commit without his parent/s there?

Of course a kid can commit without his mom there, it happens all the time. What I was discussing was the fact that you seem to think his mom not being there was a good thing. If I misread your posts then that's my fault, but, IMO, that makes no sense to me.

Again I'm not saying that him going to Vandy is a good thing. I'm saying that his mom not going, if that is indeed true, cannot be taken any other way than it being a good thing.

BTW the kid you're talking about is Kevin Mouhon, whose brother was recruited by Stripling. I'm pretty sure if the parents were comfortable enough to send the oldest son to play for Strip, they'd be okay with Kevin coming here.

Not sure if any of this makes any sense, I've had a few.

The only thing more entertaining than following recruiting is watching the swings in emotions whenever new info. surfaces.

This might be the only place on earth, outside relationship counseling sessions in Alabama, where the merits of a high school kid going out late in the evening on a Saturday without his mom will ever be debated.

It was passed onto me by a coach at Station Camp just last week.

Looks like we have a crazy from the football board here.

You can't just throw that around when someone disagrees with you, especially when the person in response has a valid point. Just because you said it's true doesn't make it so. The story itself seems extremely farfetched.

You never heard anything about Vandy and off field incidents until Franklin arrived. Now you've got several assault charges, multiple rape charges...this is obviously a strong indication of a lack of institutional control. Just like McDowell said about UGA...Those guys get into a lot of trouble and I don't want to be around that.

Not to mention Vandy doesn't have a chance in he!! at ever winning a championship...ever!
