Compound fracture is when the bone breaks the skin...

yes.........

Compound fracture: A fracture in which a bone is sticking through the skin. Also known as an open fracture.

I hate it when that happens.

We did not say goodbye to Ford for Tega. THAT would really kill Fla high school's recruiting pipeline, dropping a kid that has been committed for so long and drop him for the "chance" of getting a project with a broken leg... I know I am cold blooded when it comes to recruiting, but that would take the cake.

Doubts from VQ guys whether there would be room for him anyway in this class. Number crunching has been a theme lately.

But Tega had a leg injury 2 days ago in a basketball game. A "bad" injury.

What are the risks of playing with a rod in your leg?

I played sports since I was 16 with a rod in my leg. Now, I was nowhere near the athlete he is but I was equally nowhere the athlete after the break as before. I still have it and it doesn't give me any problems now in my 30s.

My son has a friend that had this exact injury in a soccer game 2013. The only difference is his was compound and the bones were protruding the skin :yuck:. He had the surgery and rods placed in to support the breaks. The rods were not what I expected as I would call them wires more so than rods. They were very thin. Anyway, the doctors cleared him the next fall but his parents kept him out of football that fall for precautionary reasons. He played football the following fall (this past season) for his high school.

Also, they actually removed the rods that fall, approximately 4 months after the injury.

scheduled for surgery wed. Doc says he should be good to go by may. no compound fracture, both bones are broke. doc says clean breaks rods to be placed and 100% after rehab.

would be cool if we picked him up... would show just how interested we were in his ability and upside long-term....

100% pure absolute made up BS conjecture.

heck yes it is speculation but multiple analysts on various local programming say that Tega is an automatic take given his freakish size and athletic ability - UT needed to make room for him - I'm hoping that's the reason.

I know I'm just obsessed by the idea, but I look at this kid and can't help but think with proper coaching, at that size, he could be turned into a monster LT. A pipedream, I know, but I'd give the poster's above me left nut to see it happen.
