'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

West

1.*Sheriron Jones*| Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde | Undecided

Jones was the most consistent quarterback of the week. He threw a nice, tight ball, showed touch on the deep ball and his mobility was a big strength. He'll be able to do some zone read and is a strong running threat but is just as comfortable throwing in the pocket.

Adam Gorney:

I talked to Sheriron Jones at Semper Fi media day today and the feeling I got is that Tennessee is way out in front in his recruitment.

He's considering a host of visits in January but the Vols look very good for him. Said he hasn't heard one word from the new Florida staff so the Gators are significantly trailing.

Maybe due to dead period until Jan 15th.

After Pat Allen, I think Jones is the most important recruit left that we have to sign. It's not that I feel Dormady or Jennings will not pan out. Quite the opposite. I think both are great additions. I'm of the mindset (in college and pro) that in order to be an elite team you have to have an elite QB. Adding another QB to the class only increases the odds of at least one of them being elite. Let the competition begin...
Totally agree, plus it motivates players to get better. How much better would Tyler Bray have been if he knew there was a backup just as naturally talented as he was breathing down his neck trying to get the starting spot. How much harder does the quality back up work when they know they are just a little bit of improvement away from taking the starting spot. It pushes both to get much better.

I really think our lack of depth has hurt us as much this way as much as the traditional ways (not having a quality replacement when starters are injured/out and starters not being able to get a breather because coaches can't count on a subpar backup) since the last fulmer years.

Bray probably would have transferred rather than work harder.

This would be a huge pickup for all the QB's on roster if it happens. We need top flight guys pushing each other to the top.

So what's the latest measurements? Is he really 6'2", or are they giving him a little love, and is he still right under 200 lbs?

Would love to add this kid and get him EEd, true DT QB threat, great arm, if Jennings ends up at Safety like some would think.

3-10 for about 15 yards, with nearly a 2nd pick. 1 run for about 3 yards. Arm looks good but struggling with accuracy to say the least.
