'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

What're the chances one of these QB's transfer after the first year?

With both Worley and Peterman graduated and Dobbs a JR., low to non-existent. jmo

Can't place enough emphasis on the importance of having both Dormady and Jennings EE's.

I look for one possibly two to redshirt and/or position change.

is this the writing on the wall that Peterman transfers?

No. Jones will red-shirt. Dobbs only has 2 years of eligibility left. Peterman will most likely be 2nd string with an excellent possibility to start. I hate to say it but Dobbs style of play lends itself to injury.

Irrelevant until we get some good OL. I'm convinced Butch needs good players at every position for his "system" to succeed at this level.
Did you watch any of the all star games? Jack Jones is gonna be a solid OT for us. Plus I still feel like we'll get one of the two we're still recruiting.

The timing of this commit is questionable. Lots of rumors around that he was leaning to UT but after JJ and QN EE this guy announces. I think they wanted to make sure they held onto what they already had before they gave him the green light. I guess that is part of the game.

Great pickup for us but this will definitely hurt our chances at getting a top QB in next cycle.

Now I hope that Dobbs can remain healthy! We are one high ankle sprain from a mattress burning party at the rock.! LOL

Butch apparently let the JJ and Dormandy know we were going after another QB.

Austin Kendall you mean?...he committed knowing that he'd have competition...great QBs go to programs that have other great QBs...makes for great programs.

Let's get perspective! If Peterman is done playing, we need at least 4 QB's. Couple that with the fact that everyone is being quiet about the severity of Dormady's shoulder, there's a chance he's out for spring. Plus, there is a chance that Jennings moves over and if not, he's due for a redshirt. Jones gives us a better sense of security in case Dobbs gets hurt. This is big-time college football recruiting.

Sheriron Jones' HS HC Quotes:

Rancho Verde head coach Pete Duffy called it a pleasure to coach Jones and described his qualities as a leader who can play the game.

"He's strength in character, his leadership is the best. He walks into the room and he's a kid that just exudes positive qualities. I think kids will follow him," Duffy said.

"On the field he can make all the throws. He can throw from all the body angles, he can throw on the run. He's not blazing fast but he's very, very quick. I didn't run him a whole bunch in his first few years because we literally had no one behind him. I would only run him in the big games. In college they can turn him loose and he can be a very good runner."

"He's got huge hands. He doesn't need the laces to throw spirals."

"We run an uptempo, no huddle and we do all different types of tempos and he has a really good base of the passing game and of all the concepts and rules. He's been exposed to a lot of stuff.

Jones is a dual threat quarterback, but don't call him a running quarterback. Those leadership qualities that Duffy spoke about are very evident.

He's improved a lot and Duffy feels like the scheme at Tennessee will only help him.

"I think it's a huge part of it is that fit," Duffy said. "But, on the flip side he can go under center and do all the play-action stuff and do the zone and his legs are so long he can set up in a five-step, seven-step and he would be fine. But, the fact that he will be in shotgun just makes it an easier transition. I think that's probably why coach Bajakian liked him so much, because it is that type of offense.

That video that was posted was incredible. He's more comfortable in front of a camera than most professional athletes. I also noticed how large his hands are and wide his shoulders are, he will grow to be a pretty big QB.

You know you have the right guy when he knows he is coming in to compete with two other quality QBs in the same class. I am very happy this happens. S-Jones is the real deal, not that JJ and QD are not - they are as well.

To the goobs that think that shady things are going on to entice this one to stay and that one to come in - did any of that happen when Bama has been stacking up talent? How about Ohio State? Same as several others, UT is a legendary program. Could it possibly be that it is all out in the open, discussed openly by the players themselves, as well as that Butch has made the program nationally relevant again and soon to be feared? Could it be that great players attract great players to win NC's and have good opportunities to go to the NFL, and if not, to link up with careers as VFL's?

Take the conspiracies and junk back to the FF.

Dormady is wearing 12 and Peterman is no longer on the student directory. So I would say he's gone.

I know this is going way back but a few people will probably remember this and back me up on it. Swain and Callahan discussed some of the QBs that were at the Gruden camp, Jones and Dormady were both "favorites" amongst the staff with little separation between them. So basically they got the two QBs they favored out of all of those that competed plus Jennings who has the potential to be special as well.

Exactly!

Just ask Ohio state how important it is to have multiple good qbs.

is this the writing on the wall that Peterman transfers?

I like Peterman but would it matter if the writing wasn't on the wall? Who do you feel gives us a better chance of winning vs a legit competitor Peterman or a random skill position player running the wildcat?

Even if you give the slight edge to Peterman you have to acknowledge that if that is even a question you don't really have a QB.

Are those pictures actually the numbers they are planning to wear? I noticed Tuttle was wearing #9, so either Barnett is switching #s or they were just issued random jerseys that fit?? I have no idea, so sorry if this is common knowledge...
