Some notes on Butcher from the Elite Jr Classic.

"As indicated earlier, Andrew Butcher had a really strong day. Made a great case to have been game MVP; indeed several folks wondered aloud how Butcher had not gotten the honor, even coaches from some other high schools.

Butcher had recovered an onside kick to open the game but officials ruled the ball was touched before it went 10 yards, though the ball was recovered 11 yards downfield. Nonetheless, Butcher really excelled and oftentimes had to battle opposite Chuma Edoga --- the McEachern standout who also is very much on the Vols' radar. And Edoga had some really strong moments.

Butcher was very active in pursuit away from the ball and also really disrupted the QB. Basically blew up the game-deciding play as the South squad tried to move within closer field goal range or sought to strike the go-ahead score on a fourth-down play late in the game. Caused the fumble that teammates recovered."

Butcher putting in work. #salute

"I'll have much more with Butcher and St.-Amour in the next couple days, including a strong video interview with Butcher (as long as the dying battery didn't zap it). But the best thing Butcher noted in the interview is that he liked the All-Star game b/c it allowed him to recruit for the Vols, and he's letting people know "Tennessee is coming back and if you don't get on board, you're going to get left behind."

Kind of an awkward video. Butcher seemed really nervous. I probably would be too if I was his age.

Wants to continue to get better. Does strength & speed training 3x a week. Lifts every day after school. Does yoga once a week to improve flexibility. Wants to get started back with Constantin Ritzmann to improve his technique. Pretty humble kid. Said Mitch Hyatt and Chuma Edoga were the best he went against. He was in both of their ears about UT. Also said he talked to 2 of the RBs.... It never was said who, but I'm thinking Taj Griffin and Eric Swinney.

It wasn't Eric Swinney… He is playing in the rising seniors All-Star game this week.

No, it wasn't the Rising Seniors game. It was the Elite Junior Classic. And Swinney wasn't in the elite junior classic...he is playing in the Rising Seniors game.

At the Army Combine...

Alpharetta (Ga.) High 2015 DE Andrew Butcher is here.

The Tennessee commit plans to wear plenty of Vols gear during tomorrow's combine.

He's pumped to be a Vols pledge.

"It's just great. You get to meet all these fans. There are fans everywhere. Great coaches and I have family ties at Tennessee."

Butcher added he's 100 percent solid.
