'15 DE GA Andrew Butcher (UT Commit 6/8/13)

This was posted in the "tweets' thread. Thought I'd bring it here.

I am liking this kid more and more. No BS. No excuses. I see a real leader coming from this young man.

GBO!

Thinking this young man is planning to be the lead recruiting recruit for 2015. I agree with your observations on Butcher. Think he is going to be very special.

Love this kid, gonna be a special special player on the field. Can't quantify the type of heart and tenacity this kid seems to possess.

As far as rankings go, what do you all think his ceiling is? 6.0? Any chance he can reach 6.1?

Hes gonna be my favorite player in the 2015 class for sure. Mostly for the same reason I like slim shady.

Speaking in general terms, I think a beast DE that can pass rush and run stuff is one of the most likely positions to be able to get a 5* rating.

If you mean Butcher, specifically, who is it that's in GA? OrangeVenom? Maybe he can chime in.

During his junior season, Butcher recorded 79 tackles, 13 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, forced eight fumbles and blocked a field goal.

@ButcherAndrew1: The National Championship is absolutely magical. I will do everything I can to play in one.

This kid is the anti-Sunseri.

“I thought (the combine) went really good. I dominated the one-on-ones, and I did really good in the bench press,” said Butcher, who led all players in attendance by bench-pressing 185 pounds 33 times.

“It was a great experience playing with all the top talent in Georgia (in the Elite Junior Classic) and just seeing how I match up. It was just a different level of speed, because I’m not used to going against running backs like Taj Griffin. I had to get used to that.”

“I’m encouraged with where things are, because we did end up beating a top-10 (South Carolina) team (this season). We were the underdogs in that game, and it was just great,” Butcher said. “We’re on the rise now. With all the recruits coming in, it’s going to be Butch Jones’ recruits now, and we’re going to have a winning mentality.”

“It’s just the relationships with the (Tennessee) coaches,” he said. “I’ve gotten to know them, and I know they’re going to win.”

NORTH TEAM

Andrew Butcher (Alpharetta):

It is almost a disservice to Butcher to categorize him under just one position. The Alpharetta defensive end was all over the field in the Elite Junior Classic and his presence could be felt on every play. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound playmaker recovered an onside kick, recorded multiple sacks, dominated in the run game, forced a fumble and clocked 6-foot-4, 355-pound Northside-Warner Robins offensive lineman Brandon Sandifer on Darius Slayton’s interception and return. Butcher makes the game look easy and his instinctive gifts allow him to make gamechanging plays at any point in the game and capitalize on any sort of miscue by an opponent. Butcher committed to Tennessee in June and is a consensus four-star heading into his senior year. Elite Junior North head coach Rocky Hidalgo said Butcher was without a doubt the best player on the field during the game. Butcher is as versatile of a playmaker as I have seen on the defensive side of the football and heading into the 2014 season he is my leading candidate for Georgia defensive player of the year.
