'15 FL DE Marques Ford (FORMER UT commit)

Lol

Or better yet why not figure out they can't play dead in a western from the start?

That's kinda stupid Bruin and your shtick is old. You have no idea why he was offered and why he was cut. The point remains, they offered a guy thinking he would be a good choice and then changed their minds, apparently wisely. Guys get cut from teams all the time...pro, college, and high school.

And as much as you want make this a thing, these marginal kids get more visibility as a major school commit than they might otherwise get. It isn't completely a bad thing. What is a bad thing is your refusal to let it go.

I want our coaches to so a better job identifying the right kids from the start. Too many threads like this one. Nearly all the kids we have cut loose have sucked at their next stop. Evaluations on those kids were way way off when we took their commitments.

So somehow spinning this practice as our coaches are doing the right thing is ludicrous. They simply are completely blowing a number of evals every single class where the kids aren't even close to SEC talent

Plain and simple

He was a Rivals 4*. I'd say his western acting is just fine.

So rivals screwed up and so did the coaches.

Not sure why this Board can't just say the coaches made a mistake by taking the kids commitment instead of spinning it in some silly way and praising the coaches for it.

Coaches upgraded and our coach seems to be really good at that process

It's an ongoing process.... You are constantly being evaluated even after arriving on campus

Yep and a good evaluator sees what a prospect is going to develop into

Some mistakes are made. It just makes posters look silly when they somehow make those mistakes look like our coaches did something wonderful when we correct them

Every coach in America has misevaluted a player. It happens all the time.

Please, stop

Agreed

They all make mistakes

Let's just call them what they are

It is not..... You get credit for what the final class turns into.... i like the way our coaches handles their business

Ever heard of a conditional offer.

"Hey Johnny, if you keep progressing you can play for the Vols."

Fantasy world stuff there

You think this kid in this thread thought that 2 weeks before NSD he was going to get cut loose?

His season was way over then

So you're saying there's no such thing as a conditional, commitable offer?

Kids are told as long as their academics are in order and they take care of themselves off the field they are VFLs. Off the field is the only thing conditional

Please find me a quote in a commitment article where the kid says as long as I keep getting better I will sign on NSD.

Also when did ford stop progressing?

Did he have a bad weight room session a few days before NSD and not hold up the conditions of his committment?

Bad hoops game session?

Bad flag football game?

Perhaps is was a bad wresting match a few days before NSD?

Maybe the coach said "If you want to commit that's fine but if numbers get tight we might have to ask you to gray shirt or blue shirt. Numbers are fine now but that could change. As long as you're good with that go ahead and commit."

If you think all these kids are being told that you are in a fantasy land.

So when did ford not meet his conditions?

More than likely he was told you have a spot unless recruit X says they want to be a Vol.

Happens all the time. Recruit X might have been a 5* MVP of Army AA game.
